A Peaceful and Warm Listen

This book read like a warm hug. There were layers of metaphor and themes that were more complex than I anticipated— a wonderful surprise! I loved the tidbits of advice throughout and learning more about Lydia’s story and how she persevered through different trials and adversities that I was only witness to from what socials reveal. This book feels like a guide on how to thrive in every season— an essential skill for those of us who live in environments that change drastically from winter to summer. I’d highly recommend to any who knew of Lydia before this book, and to those outside her fanbase.

I am so glad that I discovered Laura on a podcast that she was a guest on recently. What she talked about in her interview peaked my interest, so I immediately came to listen to her book.

I’ve been struggling a lot with loneliness recently— feeling like I was missing out because I didn’t have that one “best friend” or a friend group as is portrayed in the movies and on so many peoples social media pages. This book helped me to see the friendships that I do have with new value. It inspired me to reach out to those friends and continue to build close bonds with these women. Who knows, perhaps one will become my “soul sister” over time. Or perhaps I have yet to meet her, but in the meanwhile, I can enjoy all these lovely relationships that I do have!

I would certainly recommend this comforting read for any woman who struggles to see her friendship life in abundance.

It was an honour to get to listen to Viola Davis’s story. Her journey is so inspirational, and she is certainly an overcomer. The first parts of the book, those sad, gave wonderful insight into her arduous childhood. In the end of the book we got to hear rare and raw insights on the experience of being a famous, working actress. I loved hearing a bit about her faith journey too and pray she continues to walk with Christ. I would certainly recommend listening to this book!

Warning: though I appreciate her rawness, this book has harsh language and heavy topics — it’s not made for little ears.

I thoroughly enjoyed hearing Prince Harry’s story, especially the ending section. The way that he talks about his wife is so sweet and it was refreshing to hear some genuine, raw, emotional, and authentic communication from a royal. As a Canadian, this world can be a bit more foreign to me, but Megan and Harry have really sparked my interest. They are such an inspirational duo and I feel honoured to have gotten to hear such a wonderful story from Prince Harry. It’s a captivating listen and I would highly recommend it.

I loved the performances from Elaine’s parents, added so much to the story.

Her journey is deeply inspiring and I appreciate the vulnerability in the way Elaine crafted this book. Understanding the beauty and hardship that coexist in profound success is something not all of us are privy too, so the insider look into the life of the creative elite was wonderful! This book is a really lovely listen.

There’s so much wisdom in this short listen. It put succinct language to a lot of concepts that I’ve been figuring out over the years. I wish there was a longer version that would walk you through how to know if you’re in a cul-de-sac or dip

I loved this book. It is the exact opposite of the narratives that I hear and culture and challenged a lot of my worldview. Such an interesting perspective and beautifully written! The performance by Brittany was lovely as well.

Perhaps this is a book better read, not listened to. I found it quite dull to listen to and don’t think I took much away from it. It feels like 4 hours of someone reading you a point form list.

I learned a ton listening to this book and wish I could take Berger’s class! I enjoyed the insights and these topics were explained in a palatable way. Would recommend to anyone who’s work requires marketing knowledge (who is almost anyone these days).

The concepts Jennie brought up were somewhat radical, but I think quite lovely when you open your mind and heart up to them. I felt called up and out of some habits and invigorated to go deeper into community.
