Story
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

What a fantastic book. Not usually what I would pick up, but I am so glad I gave this a chance. The story was gripping and emotional. Gives you insight into the small town life Demon is living. Opens your eyes to the injustices happening all around us. And left me aching for more. Buckle in for this ride. You don’t want to miss it!

Story
Tisaanah bargained away her own freedom to save those she left behind in slavery. Now, bound by her blood pact, she must fight the Orders' war—and Max is determined to protect her at all costs. But when a betrayal tears apart Ara, Max and Tisaanah are pushed into an even bloodier conflict. Tisaanah must gamble with Reshaye's power to claim an impossible victory. And Max, forced into leadership, must confront everything he hoped to forget: his past, and his own mysterious magic. All the while, darker forces loom—far darker, even, than the Orders' secrets.

Great narration! Plot was great, found the side story about the fae in the past to be more interesting at times than the main plot, and was happy to have the stories blended in the end. Interested to see what happens next! Characters can be a bit…one track minded, which is occasionally hard to binge-listen to.

Love the plot, the adventure and tension (steamy and otherwise), and imagine I will eventually read this in a paperback someday too! Can’t wait to jump into the next book! Love the way the FMC and MMC come together, they very much see all of each other before embarking into romance. Love it!

Story
In the wake of the Kejari, everything Oraya once thought to be true has been destroyed. A prisoner in her own kingdom, grieving the only family she ever had, and reeling from a gutting betrayal, she no longer even knows the truth of her own blood. She’s left only with one certainty: she cannot trust anyone, least of all Raihn. The House of Night, too, is surrounded by enemies. Raihn’s own nobles are none too eager to accept a Turned king, especially one who was once a slave. And the House of Blood digs its claws into the kingdom, threatening to tear it apart from the inside.

The consistent willingness of the FMC to ignore the information right in front of her…but to “recognize” the truth multiple times was frustrating. Otherwise good sequel.

Story
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

I really enjoyed the authors three futuristic stories!! It was fun to hear them blended together through the book as they are. Action packed, well built characters, and engaging plots! We all wonder what our future holds, & this book provides a look into the possible futures for these main characters. Hearing the characters represented by different narrators also was a nice touch, I felt a deeper understanding for each character through the way they were brought to life. 10/10

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.
