There's a reason We Are Legion was named Audible's Best Science Fiction Book of 2016: Its irresistibly irreverent wit! Bob Johansson has just sold his software company for a small fortune and is looking forward to a life of leisure. The first item on his to-do list: Spending his newfound windfall. On an urge to splurge, he signs up to have his head cryogenically preserved in case of death. Then he gets himself killed crossing the street. Waking up 117 years later, Bob discovers his mind has been uploaded into a sentient space probe with the ability to replicate itself.

This is right up my alley. True sci/fi with drama sprinkled in there for flavor. Most sci/fi is the other way around. Probably my 5th time through the series. I would adore another installment in this series. . Dennis, if you're reading this, get on it, lol!! but seriously 😐, another would be great!

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Can't say enough good things about this author and specificly, this book. Completely taken back by how well this author told a story, executed flawless engagement with the reader, kept the plot exciting while diving into the science side of science fiction where most sci/fi lean heavily on the fiction/drama side with science as a spice for a drama.. This author may rival Brandon Sanderson as my all time, favorite author. I couldn't stop this book lol, I couldn't turn it off, slept like 3 hrs one night because I could not turn it off. Its that good!!!!!!!!!

Story
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Story
In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy?

Slow start, slow middle, but the last 6 hrs make it completely worth it.
I'm a huge Brandon Sanderson fan, my favorite author by far, and stormlight archives is my favorite series by far. I was a little concerned about half way through that this would be a set and setting.. plot development book that just sets up following books, and it does do that. Ties in some items from the larger cosmere and really advances the storyline in a dramatic way. Completely worth ever minute waiting and worth the read.. Another home run!! Thank you Brandon Sanderson for delivering another winner!

Story
In 1994, a team led by fossil-hunting legend Tim White—"the Steve Jobs of paleoanthropology"—uncovered the bones of a human ancestor in Ethiopia's Afar region. The findings challenged many assumptions about human evolution and repudiated a half-century of paleoanthropological orthodoxy. An intriguing tale of scientific discovery, obsession and rivalry that moves from the sun-baked desert of Africa to modern high-tech labs and academic lecture halls, Fossil Men is popular science at its best, and a must-listen for fans of Jared Diamond, Richard Dawkins, and Edward O. Wilson.

A number of things surprised me about this book. How crazy competition is, and how petty and valley girl certain authoritys can be at times. I found it fascinating. After watching the interview on JRE, I had to get the book and it wasn't disappointing. Kinda dry at times, but worth finishing. definitely should be on your wish list

Story
They hunt us. They bomb our worlds for target practice. A star cluster in the constellation of Orion rotates once every 1,000 years. Those who rule there have an ancient tradition: When each cycle ends, they train their fleets by spilling the blood of lesser beings. The enemy fleets are coming again. In response, the Rebel Worlds gather their starships to face the terrifying threat, and this time humanity is asked to stand with them. The last time they considered Earth, Vikings in longboats were raiding English coastlines. Today, we're less primitive. Today, we're a target.
