Story
From her dark hair sweeping below her waist to her soft, sexy curves, Tenley Page intrigues tattoo artist Hayden Stryker in a way no one else ever has…especially when she asks him to ink a gorgeous, intricate design on her back. Yet for all her beauty, there is something darkly tragic and damaged about Tenley that, for Hayden, is everything. Covered in ink and steel, Hayden is everything Tenley has never dared to want, awakening a desire to explore more than the art adorning his stunning body. Trapped by a past that leaves her screaming from nightmares, Tenley sees Hayden as the perfect escape.

That is just as good in audio as it is in physical copy. The actors really sold this story that’s always resonated with me. Genuinely happy that I have this now to listen to on the go when I just need a hit of my babies.

Story
I'm getting really good at cutting my losses. First, the husband. Divorcing him was the best decision I ever made. But between single-parenting and job-hunting, I can't catch my breath. When a celebrity blogging position falls into my lap, I'm determined to succeed. That is, until I get my first assignment and actually see Noah Frazier for the first time...practically naked and dripping wet. My heart races and I forget how to form complete sentences. His chiseled abs, irresistible smirk, and crystal blue eyes are too perfect to be real. So, what do I do? Get drunk and humiliate myself, of course.

Did I click on this one because Sebastian York is my go to voice actor? Yes yes I did. Did Corinne as an author once again wreck my soul and make me feel things like we haven’t been here before? Yes, yes she did. This book was funny and sexy, it was quirky and emotional AF. It took very real things and made them just a little fantastic all while grounding us in the emotion. I’m never disappointed with a Corinne Micheals book, and this was no exception.

The narration was amazing and as usual it didn’t take long for Helena to have me super invested. But it doesn’t state this is a spin off or attached to another of her series till you are in it and they are name dropping a bunch of people from her one series I haven’t actually read yet. It’s a pain and a shame but I couldn’t enjoy what I know was supposed to be all these great name drops. It made me sad. But I do still wanna go back and read that series now.

Someone who isn’t familiar with this world might not get much from this little intro. But for me it was an amazing little dive back into a world I know and love and characters that I wanna know more about (given they are peripheral in the mercy Thompson series.)

Rating this book purely on my feelings. I’m not gonna lie and say it was some masterpiece and that’s why it’s got five stars. But I am gonna say I yelled at my family to leave me alone all day to read this and was very mean when they didn’t comply. And I laughed, got a little teary and totally was rooting for my babies in this story so my enjoyment was five bright stars.

Fanfiction made real
Reviewed: 02-16-21
This rating as well as this read were pure emotion for me in the best ways. I wanted one thing from this book and I got it and so much more I wasn’t totally prepared for. I can’t say just what that was without spoilers but it was good. Something to bear in mind though, this isn’t a book with epic battles, this is a very transitional story so if you need all kinds of pulse driving action this isn’t it. This is very very character driven as it’s tying some lose ends and opening the doors for the next group of stories.
I’ll be rereading and annotating this book soon because honestly it’s like a fanfic and there’s so much opening for new books here I wanna be able to enjoy all of it again. (It’s messy AF but I don’t judge it for that lol)

Reread post: after listening to this audiobook and letting myself kind of close my eyes and just be in this world again I'm even more devastated then I was the first time I read the book. It's so intense and just I wasn't prepared yet again. There was talk about the relationship the main ship being to good and how it took away because no drama but like how is a massive war not enough drama for you guys? One thing can't be solid in a world gone to shit? No I think on second go through I'm even happier with how things turned out. Ok my original 'review' is below lol.
OG post ⬇️
This was the most amazing and devastating and beautiful and fulfilling and heartbreaking and hopeful finale to a trilogy I have ever read. It was filled with emotion and pain and action and adventure and just.... I can't, to many feels to express and impossible without spoilers. But if you loved ACOMAF.... prepare yourself

4.5 stars
Reviewed: 12-03-20
As ever these books in audio can not be beat and that deserves 27 stars because it so helps this world come to life.
The .5 star drop is for a little drag towards the middle. It was of course to be expected as there was a lot of traveling and pre depression that would 100% being slow and time consuming with a lot of scenic America. Still it did drag and I should note that.
But beyond that I laughed, I cried and as ever this was an amazing story. The characters that we loved moved mountains to make a difference all while facing an America that like today’s America didn’t love them. But they didn’t stop them, they fought, always to help, always to make things better.
The author does an amazing job of being provocative while also being kind and understanding about painful subject matter. And her authors notes really make me emotional every time. This story, these characters, this world of diviners deserves all the stars in the sky.

I don’t think I can ever completely express what this book series means to me. And to review this book now I know I would not do it justice. Also it would be riddled with spoilers and that’s unfair to you all so I will avoid them like the plague.
What I will say is that this book keeps the quick pacing and engaging storytelling of the previous books. It makes you hurt the very same way the others did too I won’t lie. But it’s aches in this beautiful way that I really hope everyone will read and take from and appreciate for all its tragic glow.
These characters learn and grown and suffer and change and the people we have at the end, of those left standing, they don’t look like those people we met years and years ago. But there is a beauty to that. In the grown in their trial by fire. And that’s what this was, the world exploding and the embers left behind when all the other kindling was gone.
I can’t give this book enough stars, I wish there were a higher more intense rating I could give it because it means just that much to me.

A Highlander walks into a bar.... My father's conference, to be exact. The Scot is huge, overbearing, and his gaze sets me on fire. He wants to take me home to see his mighty tower. I'm tempted. I really am. Except I just had a proposal from someone else. One that could give me everything I wanted. Apart from love. But when did I ever have a need for that?

This story was everything I needed right now. Lock down reading slumps are a thing and this was just so perfect. It was big time sweet and a little sexy and intense but never hopelessly so if that makes sense? It was exactly right at exactly the right time and I’m so happy I’ve finally started this series. Book hubby status for Callum, that was completely unavoidable here 🤷🏻♀️
