About this listen

On the darkest night, the stars still shine.

Feyre’s first Winter Solstice as High Lady is drawing near. With it will come a hard-earned rest from the work that she, Rhysand and their friends have done to rebuild the Night Court and the vastly changed world beyond. Yet the festive atmosphere can’t keep shadows from looming.

Even as her own heart heals, she finds that those dearest to her have wounds that go deeper than she knew. And the scars of the past will touch her court in times to come.

A sparkling companion tale to the #1 bestselling global phenomenon fantasy series by Sarah J. Maas

The feeling of discovering that your favorite new listen is actually the start of a series is euphoric. That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. From YA to horror to historical fiction, from fresh voices to seminal tales, hours of discovery await.

little to no conflict

the story was cute but had little conflict. could have easily been a Epilogue rather than a full novel.

Feel good interlude

I love this Christmas special vibe of an interlude. It gives you a glimpse into the lives of the characters after the war and how they are finding their way in the aftermath of so much trauma. The evolution of Rhys and Feyre is so fairytale like and truly just a warm and fuzzy segway of feel good before the adventure ramps back up.

Prologue for the next book?

There is a lot of hate towards this book because people say nothing happens. How can they say that fairy Christmas is nothing?! You also find out who doesn’t know how to go to the bathroom, who becomes a drunk and who rediscovers a lost talent! Shout out to the narrator. She did a great job.

Loved this

It’s the smallest book in the series and it brings
Me joy gazing into everyone’s lives after the war and how they do still struggle BUT they’re beginning to live their lives

Enjoyment

I really liked this book throughout. I hope the next book continues the story and doesn’t turn into a spinoff.

Change of pace

This book was really short and sweet. I’d find it unfair to compare it to the other books.

kinda smutty

I am an avid reader and listener. I don't get offended by sex scenes very often, though I agree with Murderbot about their entertainment value. But this book just droned on and on with way too many and way too long of sex scenes. TMI! I know some readers really get into it. Not this one. The rest of the story was too shallow. What was the point? Publisher demand for word count? There was no plot, too little relevance. The motifs that could have been expanded on were just plopped down like a wet rag. It was like watching a really bad trailer to a film.

The End

Good finish to series; sad to see it end but good.
Did think the word "mate" was way overused..... in that if one had to hear "mate" one more time blood would boil.

Unfinished business

I looked forward to this book for months, yet it left too much unfinished. Disappointingly so. Still love the characters, but they got nowhere. No real storyline like past books of the series.
