Story
Unable to shift for three months, Mateo Cruz knows all too well. His wolf has taken up residence in his head, taunting him night and day with vividly violent and carnal thoughts. Convinced he's cursed, he needs the help of a powerful witch before he literally goes insane. Evie Savoie has always obeyed the house rule of her coven: no werewolves. They're known for being volatile. So, when a distempered, dangerous werewolf strolls into the bar and almost strangles one of her late-night customers, she's ready to bounce him through the door. But she sees the desperation in his eyes....

Story
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Loved this story! There are moments that Violet is a bit annoying but is a more realistic character. She has flaws but doesn’t descend into angst that are generic for characters. Waiting for next book excitedly

Story
Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story.

Such a great book

Emily Henry books are always a treat. There’s a few more I’m going to be buying soon. This one was a great book. The characters aren’t perfect and definitely human. They had growing pains without overdramatizing their lives. The main love interest wasn’t a knight in shining armor which I definitely appreciated. The father’s main character was also changing into a more complicated person. The main character’s mom is my favorite for the book. Love that she is the anchor for this story. This is absolutely worth reading.

Story
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

I have loved ever bit of this book!! So many parts of interesting bits here were even more fascinating. The dog is wonderful! It was interesting how some of the people in this book were not “evil” they were just selfish and entitled. It made the how much of society has changed and how it should not be allowed to slide back into misogyny and racism.

This book was interesting. The characters were not as rounded out as they could have been. There were some twists I definitely didn’t see coming. However, there were a few editorial inconsistencies that took me out of the story and I had to go back to re-read certain sections. There’s a second book to this but not sure yet if I will read it.
