A ton of fun, a unique blend of GameLit with "real life" fantasy without Isekai. The main characters display proper reasoning and growth. Loved the female MC!

I'm like six chapters in and I just don't care about a single character or their plans or struggles. I'm just bored through and through.

I liked the first two, and I get that this is just a simple guilty pleasure kind of read, but my issues come down to a few things.

If you just want more turn your brain off fun, and maybe you've taken a break between book 2 and 3, stop reading this now and just enjoy the book -- I enjoyed the first half we'll enough before I hit some things that broke my suspension of disbelief and I had to stop the book.

Spoiler warning... though none of these are significant plot points considering they're all in passing.

- Finances - Implied several times that he controls the women's purse strings despite them earning their own gold. They made 2250 gold in one outing, but then he said they felt "lighter in gold" due to spending 500 gold in the same transaction on a piece of armor. the woman then thanks the MC profusely for buying it, despite her share of gold from that single transaction being over 500 gold anyways. And remember that's 500 thousand US dollars.

- Everyone is white. Despite being different races and from different worlds.

- All women are skinny and have huge breasts that never require bras.

- The world of magic still requires exercise to stay fit, even though the food isn't even that tasteful this they don't eat or drink much of it in comparison. All the women coincidentally like to stay fit, and for some reason need to work at it, despite having extremely high charisma. Other body types are never described and evidently not appreciated.

- Relationships go from occasional business transactions to husband and wife in less than a day.

- "Science will stop working". It's literally a process of thinking and reasoning. It's implied the food will still be around, but TVs and Internet and cars and weapons will stop working. As if the scientific method has never helped with ingredient creation or food preparation.

- He has no qualms or concerns about the fact that the world is going to become magical and have all technology stop working. He doesn't seem to care that they have no say in it and acts like it's for the better. That everyone will just adjust to literally no running water, no electricity and no dentistry (can't have toothpaste anymore I'm assuming because chemicals and science - it's literally called our that the magical worlds dont brush their teeth).

- Roughly one billion people die in about 2-3 days due to suicide and murder. Yes that is approximately 12% of the worlds population. the main character doesn't seem to care in the slightest when he's told that, and continues talking to the "demi-god" that is at fault for it. They just seem glad it's not more. Keep in mind resurrection literally exists as a spell in this same book.

- They have sex for hours and hours into the night. They have no schedule, nowhere to be, but they only get 3 hours of sleep. In a modern home. Why did they wake up? Who the heck does that?

- Timeline of the story is extremely accelerated out of the blue. Like from 100 years expected for events to occur to weeks.

- For a harem novel, not a single sex scene is described. They're skipped over like a pg-13 movie. Who is the audience here? Fourth wing is spicier.

- Zero character growth or development other than levels going up. Stats are barely mentioned too, but more importantly no one learns anything at any point.

That said, the narration is incredible. Huge props to the narrators.

A massive amount of Worldbuilding for the first half of the novel. not really my kind of thing, but I expected it since I knew this was setting up for a game and potentially future books. I felt like they worked up two of the primary characters - Finn and Ellie really well, only to have them languish for the last twenty percent of the book. they're the only two I really cared a out, and I was sad to not spend more time with them.

Sink your teeth into this one, regardless whether you're new to the genre and want a sample or are a long time fan looking for your next meal. It doesn't disappoint. Possibly my favorite Krout novel to date! It's certainly one of his best.

Idiot MC Gets Better

I agree with other reviews about how painfully stupid the MC is in the beginning. But by the end of the book, I feel like it kind of makes sense (once you know the full extent of his backstory). He also gets smarter, at least marginally.

The book was fairly enjoyable by the end, and the next one could have potential, but I don't think I'll be continuing, as it's just not my kind of LitRPG.

Better than Chrysalis, on par with Veridian Gate Online I think, but not quite as good as DCC, Ripple System, or Completionist Chronicles.
