Story
Davi has done this all before. She’s tried to be the hero and take down the all-powerful Dark Lord. A hundred times she’s rallied humanity and made the final charge. But the time loop always gets her in the end. Sometimes she’s killed quickly. Sometimes it takes a while. But she’s been defeated every time. This time? She’s done being the hero and done being stuck in this endless time loop. If the Dark Lord always wins, then maybe that’s who she needs to be. It’s Davi’s turn to play on the winning side.

I am really enjoying this series, so far. I’ve listened to the first four books before this and will read the sixth book as well. With that said, there’s something bugging me about the ending that f this one.
**This has SPOILERS**
Read only if you’ve read the other books and are not bothered by spoilers.
The bitten humans were waiting until the next full moon for their first change. When they lit the warehouse on fire, the pack was gone. They went to the estate for the first night of the full moon, like they always do. So, wouldn’t all of the bitten humans also change that night? Or the next? Or the third?
I think the final battle was either on the 3rd night of the full moon, or maybe the day after. It’s hard to tell since we only see through Mackenzie’s eyes and she was drugged and in a closet. So, the bitten humans wouldn’t be human anymore, right? But, Mackenzie talked about them as if they were still human.

This is the eighth book in the series. If you’ve made it this far, you’re pretty familiar with the series. It’s a good series. The first 7 books were done with dual narration. But this narrator! This was like Clayface in the “Harley Quinn” cartoon. He reads the dialog like a very bad actor doing lines for laundry detergent.

I’m incredibly intrigued by this book series. I’ve gotten about 2 hours into this book. The narrator speaks too fast. I’m going to try the Kindle version, I just can’t take anymore of this narrator. Unfortunately, she’s the narrator for all 6 books.

I absolutely adored this book! I’m a little persnickety about mispronunciation of words and kept correcting the narrator in my head but other than that, this book rocks. Also, I had to google nicotine poisoning and had no idea it could be so toxic when applied topically.

It was a great ending to a great series. It wrapped up the series nicely. There were no obvious loose ends. I’m sad Matt and India’s story is done. Funnily enough, I only started this series because I read, “The Librarian of Crooked Lane” and wanted to read the first series before I went back to the Glass Library series. Now, I’m sad to see these friends go.

Good suspense, lyrical prose, fantastic ending. If you’ve read any with HP Lovecraft, this will be familiar, although much better written. What more could you ask for? Mira Grant aka Seanan McGuire aka A. Debora Baker is my favorite author, so of course I’m slightly biased toward the book before I even started it, but it did not disappoint. If you like the stories of Lovecraft but cringe at his writing (like I do) this is the book for you.
