Story
Studies show that nearly 70 percent of divorces are initiated by women—women who are tired, fed up, exhausted, and unhappy. We’ve all seen how the media portrays divorcées: sad, lonely, drowning their sorrows in a bottle of wine. Lyz Lenz is one such woman whose life fell apart after she reached a breaking point in her twelve-year marriage. But she refused to take part in that tired narrative and decided to flip the script on divorce.

Fascinating perspective
Reviewed: 02-22-25
Very interesting listen and entertaining. I find it admirable that she just divorced her husband when she should have set him on fire. To each their own. I wish she was a stronger person though and found more value in herself. This is a perspective of the beginning g of a woman’s growth. I hope Liz continues to write and find herself. But I would have set the man on fire and used the flames to light a cigarette.

Amazing characters
Reviewed: 11-05-24
I have enjoyed this entire trilogy so much and am terribly sad to see it end. The characters are so rich that they are like old friends and it is hard to let them go. Gwynne is a master weaver of story and mythology and human nature, a true artist when there are so many vapid stories out there. This trilogy is amazing and incredibly performed. I am so thankful that he finished it despite the tragedy he continues to live with. Beautifully done and I thank him for his commitment to his fans.

Story
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Great story and great performance
Reviewed: 12-21-23
Personally, I love the performance of the narrator and would tell the people that have given it a negative review a double check. It’s a performance, people, like an actor orating on stage. If you don’t like that, Audible is not for you and you should try reading it if you are literate enough to do so. Enough said. It’s a moving performance and an excellent story with many twists and turns. Yarros is an excellent up and comer in the genre and I can’t wait to see what she does next although I cringed at some of the ways I felt the main character was as dumbed down in the second book, they are all still very likable characters. Overall excellent and a very enjoyable listen.

Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Story
Everything about my life is a lie. As a hidden twin princess, born second, I have only one purpose―to sacrifice my life for my sister if death comes for her. I’ve been living under the guise of a poor, obscure girl of no standing, slipping into the palace and into the role of the true princess when danger is present. Now the queen is dead and the ageless King Eidolon has sent my sister a gift―an eerily familiar gift―and a proposal to wed. I don’t trust him, so I do what I was born to do and secretly take her place on the eve of the coronation.

Story
People aren’t as they seem. And history…I’m still attempting to reconcile the truth with what I was previously told. My new allies have an agenda, but I have one of my own. Though there’s overlap—we all agree Dante must die—what I desire more than anything is to return to Lore before he levels the kingdom to find me…or loses his humanity trying. I may favor crowns over coffins, but I refuse to live in a world where my mate only exists as a bird.

What a disappointment
Reviewed: 11-14-23
To start, I loved the series. But in this last book, the main character loses a hundred IQ points. She is just an idiot and the storyline is cloying and inane. There was so much promise in the set up and then the author just decided to write porn and forget any of the underlying themes from the first two books. I won’t be listening to any more of her work. It is well performed which I had to imagine was difficult since it’s basically half Penthouse letters, but otherwise I would say it is an utter failure. If you want to write porn, just write porn and stop passing it off as whatever this is supposed to be.

Amina al-Sirafi should be content. After a storied and scandalous career as one of the Indian Ocean’s most notorious pirates, she’s survived backstabbing rogues, vengeful merchant princes, several husbands, and one actual demon to retire peacefully with her family to a life of piety, motherhood, and absolutely nothing that hints of the supernatural.
