Story
In an authoritarian America, personal freedoms are at risk, information is being controlled, and legal citizens suddenly find themselves being deported. A growing resistance movement is active, angry, and looking to strike back. And a TV show for kids may be the key. Enter Celeste Montgomery and Bailey Vance. Celeste is an intern for the show that features Bailey singing and dancing with puppets. While Bailey teaches the kids about geography, Celeste is planting codes into the script, songs, background, whatever she can do to pass messages for the resistance.

Ecellent story with a "twisty" plot! There are too many subplots that I don't want to tell you about because that knowledge would ruin your enjorment of the story. Just know this; you will enjoy this audio book!
Unique characters and a unique setting lend an even stronger sense of "What is going on here?" to the srory. Don't be fooled by the smokescreens. Let your mind contemplate the possibilities!
As for narration. Khristine Hvan does an awesome job. Her voice is gentle, yet authorative when necessary. She is a pleasant "ingredient" in this "verbal mix."

The world has changed. Now, when someone is murdered, they almost always come back to life—and there are professionals, called “dispatchers”, who kill in order to save lives, to give those near the end a second chance. Tony Valdez is a dispatcher, and he has never been busier. But for as much as the world has changed, some things have stayed the same. Greed, corruption, and avarice are still in full swing.

This novella is fantastic! John Scalzi has written an excellent story with likable character--even the bad guys. You never know for sure who is the big bad guy or gal. I do not want to give away important plot lines and ruin your listening pleasure!
Suffice it to say, this novella takes a great plot and intertwines likable characters, many of whom have history together that both clarifies the plot and brings subterfuge to the plot. I never figured out thev"who-done-it" until Scalzi wanted me to (i.e. not umtil the very end).
I simply must congratulate Zachary Quinto on his masterful reading of the story! He has a commanding voice, both deep and strong. He interprets these characters as if he met them all!
P.S.I think this story would make a great TV series. Now go buy this and enjoy!!

Such a great story and plot!

Robert Storey is an empathetic writer who carries out an amazing plot with unique characters and a reimaging of possible global disasters.
He looks inside the heart of his characters both good and bad; you can tell he has created them in both his heart as well as in his mind. Storey seems to have felt every failure and triumph they have ever experienced. He understands the levels and degrees of deprivation to which human kind can sink, yet he understands the opposite as well.
Pay attention to the details in this book which can be read as a stand alone, but more importantly as the opening salvo of an amazing series.
Narration is good as well. Have fun with this amazing ride!

One small handwritten letter, sent from a dark, remote corner of the planet and lost in the system for 60 years, is about to change the entire human race. Outside Denver, Colorado, Joe Rickards stands over a small aircraft wreckage, studying burnt remains still smoldering in a field of freshly fallen snow. He's an investigator for the NTSB, working to carefully roll back the last several hours and identify the cause of the accident. But this time, he can't.

i love Michael C. Grumley's work. I was fairly new to Audible when I discovered Grumley's work with the SMASHING "Breakthrough" series. I found this book a few months ago and was finally ready to listen.
Mr. Grumley is exceptionally good at building a story and layering in clues. Step by step he brings you into the story whether you're reading or listening.
It's so hard trying to tell you about the book without giving so much away. Too many options for "spoilers!"
Suffice it to say, there are exellent characters to love and hate, but especially to love. Three diverse characters come together in a VERY exciting way. There are Nazis in South America, Monument men, secret missions, top secret weapons, a mysterious letter that arrives almost 60 years late, and a host of other clues and obsessions that make this book top ten material!
I want to take a second to give kudos to the narrator Scott Brick. He has a wonderful voice and excellent ability to keep charaters separate.
This is so excellent. I am sure most everyone can find something in and about this book to love!

James Patterson leads you into the darkest recesses of the mind with this chilling, immersive audio thriller. We meet Brent Quill, a frustrated actor trying to take his game to the next level. When he learns about the intensive Method acting process, he dives in deep—and immediately lands the lead role in a TV series about a brutal serial killer. Very unique look into the acting abyss
Reviewed: 10-31-22
Excellent look at acting, both real and artificial. James Patterson and Michael B. Silver use psychological drama, and drama in general to show how dangerous some demanding training can be for actors. Patterson and Silver push to ask how far is too far to dig into one's own psyche to connect to and recognise commonalities between one's self and a script's creation.
Excellent actors reading the paper people they serve as bring this story to life and help make a wonderful "radio play" for us to enjoy.
Don't be afraid to buy this one! It's a keeper!!

A great trilogy end--however, more are coming!!
Reviewed: 10-19-22
I so enjoyed this book and the trilogy of books in the series. Audible's postscript says more books are coming. Yay!!
There's so much I want to share about the story, but there are way too many plot spoilers. Let's just say things are not what they appear, and help comes from the most unlikely places.
Throughout the trilogy (so far), the characters are great! We lose some favorites, but there is great character growth along the way.
There is humor mixed with sadness, and war mixed with regret.
Give the seried a chance and you will not be disappointed!!
Give the narrator a chance as well, because Ray Porter is one of the best. This man could read the phone book and make it sound amazing! lol

B.R. Spangler pitches a no hitter! Many try to write like her, but few can.
Her stories are varied and never have an obvious killer. Her characters are enjoyable, and I like them more in every installment.
I like Patricia Rodriguez as a narrator, especially for police procedurals lead by strong female protagonists.

On April 7, 1844, Joseph Smith gave a sermon in Nauvoo, Illinois, to nearly 20,000 church members. A few weeks earlier, a church member and close friend of Joseph named King Follett was killed in an accident. This well-known event in Nauvoo led Joseph Smith to comment specifically on Follett’s death and to address what Joseph called “[T]he subject of the dead”.

This is so facinating! The new (and old) archaeological evidence shows amazingbfact proving a semitical presence in the Americas for thousands of years.
This is especially interesting to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. These discoveries follow closely the description of activities of those whom we believe were the ancestors of the Native Americans.
