About this listen

In an authoritarian America, personal freedoms are at risk, information is being controlled, and legal citizens suddenly find themselves being deported. A growing resistance movement is active, angry, and looking to strike back. And a TV show for kids may be the key.

Enter Celeste Montgomery and Bailey Vance. Celeste is an intern for the show that features Bailey singing and dancing with puppets. While Bailey teaches the kids about geography, Celeste is planting codes into the script, songs, background, whatever she can do to pass messages for the resistance.

Celeste doesn't know who these messages are from or who they're for. But she’s certain about one thing—if the scheme is uncovered, it will be her head on the chopping block.

Only the government got to Bailey first. And Celeste has no idea whose side he’s on.

A very very good and fun short story. A non-linear, almost interactive, charming tale of underground networks and autocratic government agencies and a little romance. Also, there’s hand puppets and pie.

Phenomenal Experiential Dystopian Quirky Short Story

I'm So pleased to have just picked it - Only thought, "just 2.5 hours Perfect for my plane ride!" Ophelie came Alive in the first chapter. Defining a few characters simplified things AND then Off to the Races to See Just How Good the next character is!!! Coyle seductive, great pace - All Around Interestingly Fun!!

WOW - 5STAR !!!

I’m here for the dystopian thinly veiled Alexa hack and all. I also couldn’t help but associate Bailey with Blippi, the oddly handsome and garishly dressed childrens entertainer with a complex background. Whether intended or not, I’d definitely listen to more!

Was this a Blippi fanfic?

This cracked me up because I'm sure it was meant to disparage the Orange Guy and the GOP, but it ended up, with its Department of Truth, sounding way much more like Biden and his Disinformation Board in DHS or his attempted control over Twitter via the FBI. So, kind of silly and disingenuous, but pretty entertaining for free!

Just like Biden's Disinformation Board!

Inventive & engaging. Way better than I expected. The kind of story they make into great movies.

Where's the sequel?

I really enjoyed this political sattire. Just the right length and while it was a social commentary, it was also very funny

Loved it

This was a great story and perfect for the times. I know it was just a short little story, but I think it would be great as a longer in depth book and even a movie. I really liked the characters. Lately, a lot of the books I’ve read have just had main characters that I just did not like or couldn’t relate to and they got on my nerves. The characters in this story were all interesting and relatable. The performance was fantastic. I loved the narration!

Really Good!

I wonder if Amazon knows how close this is to the classic book 1984, and how possible it is to be enacted by a nefarious government. Excellent listening if you can get past the K.Harris like giggle and childish voice.

Yikes! Too close to the truth
