The narrator was absolutely TERRIBLE!
Reviewed: 04-21-25
The story was ok but the narrator was horrible. She sounded like Keanu Reeves in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure! The book takes place in Nashville! I live near Nashville and I hated this accent more than those way over done country/southern accents that actors usually put on for these roles. Is it so hard to find an actor who is from the region that the character is from? Ok… I’m done venting.

In all honesty… at first I couldn’t understand what the hype was all about. I finished the book and liked it but didn’t love it. So I listened again to see if I had missed anything. After the second time I still liked the book but couldn’t understand why people loved it so much. But then I couldn’t get it out of my head. I listened to it for a third time, then a fourth and fifth. I finally figured it out. It’s an easy, cozy read/listen. For some reason it soothes my nerves and calms me. Whenever I am overly stressed or anxious (which is quite often) I turn this audiobook on and I find myself calming down. Now I turn it on every night before bed. I’m generally asleep before chapter 2 and now have chapter 1 nearly memorized word for word. I love this book and the whole series. I wish there were more like this!

Ok… this is a good book but it’s my least favorite in the series so far. It’s just so freaking long! I’m not sure why it wasn’t made into 2 books. I felt my attention wane several times and even though I can generally finish 2 - 12 hour audiobooks in 2-3 days… this took me over a week to get through. But overall it was a good book.

It was so nice to hear Bones’ side! I only wish that we got a bit more of his backstory and memories. But I still thoroughly enjoyed it! Maybe one day we will get a short story of the 4 years between the first and 2nd book from his perspective. I can’t get enough of Cat and Bones!

Beware Spoilers
The Trials Of Apollo series is good but... it seems so much darker than the previous series based in this world. So much death and suffering. I miss Percy Jackson’s whit and charm. Apollo just goes on and on about “poor pitiful me and look at all the people and creatures that are dying for me. Poor pitiful me.”
