Story
The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

Awesome book, one of the best!
Reviewed: 03-28-25
This is definitely one of the best books, not just in this series but ever. Over 28 hours of nonstop action. I’d say this one book has over 5 times the content and story most other books have, so it’s quite a great value!

Story
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

More good beginnings, but still not enough endings.

I enjoyed this story, as I enjoy all Bob books, but it felt too much like a “Part 1”, with adding more cliffhangers and not so many resolved storylines. It was however, still worth the credit I spent!

Story
A blueprint. A bible. What Sun Tzu’s Art of War was to ancient China, Pimp is to the streets. As real as you can get without jumping in, this is the story of Iceberg Slim’s life as he saw, felt, tasted, and smelled it. It is a trip through hell by the one man who lived to tell the tale—the dangers of jail, addiction, and death that are still all too familiar for today’s Black community. By telling the story of one man’s struggles and triumphs in an underground world, Pimp shows us the game doesn’t change; it just has a different swagger.

I bought this after hearing Dave Chappelle mention it during a standup show. This was definitely an interesting story. Lots of interesting characters revolve as the main character goes on a wild rollercoaster consisting of multiple arrests, prison sentences, and deadly danger all while pimping across the country.

Last book was okay, but this one definitely kicked it up a notch. The voice actors were awesome, and the story itself was longer, and even a bit better than usual I believe.
I can’t wait for more!

Story
As management reels from the unexpected conclusion of the seventh level, the surviving crawlers stumble onto the eighth and find themselves scattered. It’s a map based on Earth’s final days before the collapse, where ethereal, intangible ghosts of humanity go about their lives, oblivious of the impending doom. Living amongst these ghosts are monsters based in Earth lore. “Legendary” creatures tied to the geographical location they inhabit. Each team of crawlers is given a task: Find and capture six of these beasts.

It wasn’t bad, but I had a hard time staying focused for the entire duration. I believe the narration helped, but I would like more interesting character details(especially on the aliens), or details on possible future tech.

Story lacking, but Narrator was awesome!
Reviewed: 03-31-23
The story was a bit lacking, I would have preferred they show more alien interaction, instead of erasing them so quickly. The battles had nice detail, but overall they played out similarly(ships and pilots die, we’re low on ammo, but we have to win anyhow! - rinse and repeat). There were some good characters with decent character development, I simply would have liked more character development, and perhaps more diverse obstacles other than the repeated formula. All in all however, it’s not a bad series still, so don’t be discouraged from buying if you’re a Space Opera fan.
Narration was pretty good imo. I don’t usually comment on narration, but this narrator was better than most Space Opera narrators I have heard. Not my all time favorite, but top 4-5 for sure!

Decent book, great narration.
Reviewed: 07-07-22
It starts slow for over a third of the book, like many do. It gets better around the midpoint, and there’s a nice climatic buildup by the end, the sort that feels almost like an action movie.
I did enjoy the book overall, and the narration was good too!
