Critic reviews

“Sprightly, witty, engaging....Professor Wiker recommends actually reading the books—but his own book is a whole lot more fun." (Thomas E. Woods, Jr., Ph.D., author of How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization)
“A valuable contribution to the most urgent intellectual project of our day.” (Elizabeth Kantor, Ph.D., author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to English and American Literature)

A Great Overview - Worth the Read and Listen

I enjoyed both the reader and the content. I understood and chose this book for its perspective - Conservatism and the particular worldview of the author and the choices he made. I appreciated the concise summary of each book included in this work, how the individual works and authors related to each other, and the particular political ideology and worldview. I recognize others may disagree with his political or worldview choices, but the title provides clues to the subject matter. One who strongly opposes this position may find other works better suited.

Entertaining and thought provoking

Great book. With everything happening in our land (USA), I found the book especially eye opening and a stark reminder why I am conservative.

Ears Open.

Very good information and well written. The explanation of why the materials were chosen and some not is helpful in Understanding the reasoning so one might open their ears as well as their eyes.

Excellent Audiobook!

Though the entire content of this audiobook was great, Dr. Wiker's biographical sketch of Ayn Rand was the best part! I really appreciate the work and effort put into this informative book. Also, Robertson Dean did a terrific job in reading the text.

Great to understand the sick mind of conservatives

The author. (A theologian member of “Discovery Institute” a pseudo science organization that promotes “intelligent design”) takes you in to a journey of the poisoning ideas that makes the conservative thinking in America right now. For me, is a valuable book, because gives you a good idea of how religious fanaticism and racist see America and the world and how they justify their views. N A T U R A L LAW. This is the magic concept that can be use to justify racism, lack of integration deny woman’s rights and any kind of social safety net. Good read whoever you will find your self screaming and cursing a lot for listening so many bad ideas and bigotry.

This is ONE book every conservative should read!

As always, Ben Wiker makes fascinating connections and brings a strong intellect and sharp wit to whatever he considers, and he is as entertaining as he is spot on.

My 2-stars for performance was because neither my husband nor I were crazy about Robertson Dean's reading. His inflections were fine, but there's something almost robotic about the sound of his voice that makes him hard to take.

Excellent!

Wiker cuts through all the deliberate obfuscation which liberals use to cover their clumsy, dumb-footed tracks through western civilization. If you are a conservative, you will weep at the beauty in the world of literature. If you are a liberal, you will tend your garments in humility and return to the world of the living. Welcome.
