About this listen

As a 41-year-old mother of three boys, working two jobs, Marya Berger doesn’t have the time or energy to consider a relationship. Especially after a lifetime of poor choices in the romance department. But when the disappearance of a young boy strikes a little too close to home, and a younger man she’s tried to ignore offers his help, she doesn’t stand in the way.

Single father, Dylan Barnes, the junior member of the La Plata County FBI team at 33, has his focus firmly on his job and his son, Max. He’s certainly not looking to complicate his life, when he finds himself at his son’s soccer game, sitting beside the spirited brunette he can’t get out of his mind. Fate, however, appears to have different plans.

When an unspeakable crime draws the attention of the FBI, Dylan finds himself torn between his job and his instinctive need to protect Marya and her boys.

Best of the 4 for me (no spoilers)

This is one of the hardest plot lines to take in, because it takes your breath away in moments. I get the panic and anxiety and tears just like the char’s. The romance in this one I adore. I wish it could’ve been cemented a little sooner in the storyline somehow, though even I fail to have an idea to do so. Our girl Maryah, my god she can’t catch a break. I’ve only picked up on a few inconsistencies with a things in the story. But nothing that isn’t easily fixed with just general logic.

I feel like both narrators had the characters personalities picked out wonderfully. The previous 2 female narrators didn’t hit the same. But this one I feel surpasses the first book on everything. The way the story is written, you could easily listen to this one first, and start then, from the beginning. There’s enough backstory to understand but not enough to make you feel like you’re missing something substantial. But, could easily read this in 4,1,2,3 order.

Excellent series. I keep coming back to it. Definitely ones I’ll keep on my phone.

loved this whole series

I think it's hard to find books that are spicy and also have a good story line. The whole series is full of great stories that tie together but also read well on their own. They have a little bit of what you want without being totally over sexual like many books. I'll definitely be checking out more books from Freya

my only complaint was the male reader for this book. something about his voice made me uncomfortable. not his fault, his performance was good, just a personal preference thing for me

Great ending to the series

This was one of my favorite Of the series. The story was suspenseful, emotional, and with a great love story. Both narrators were great. Ted Branson always seems to do a great job. McKenzie Cartwright was new to me and it was great. My only negative critiques—the wrap up on the story was a bit too convenient but not enough to really aggravate me. There were also times when the editing of the narration was cut short and the last word would fade out, although you can still tell what was said by context. I thought it was me at first and would rewind to listen but it was the book.
