About this listen

With the current divorce rate spiking at a dizzying sixty percent, it is clear that young couples are not being taught the skills needed to navigate through the conflicts and difficulties of being in a committed relationship. Charlie and Linda Bloom, psychotherapists with fifty-five years of combined experience in relationship counseling, are acutely aware of this. For the last fifteen years the Blooms have been leading seminars on improving life relationships through their organization, The Empowerment Network. They’ve helped thousands of couples improve their most cherished relationships.

Each lesson is presented as a simple, one-line thought followed by an explanation using real life examples, from Charlie and Linda’s personal experiences and the experiences of other couples. The Blooms share a wealth of experience with their listeners. They demonstrate the universality of relationship issues and how anyone can find ways out of the pain that can engulf a relationship. By working through these ordeals, couples will enrich their relationships. The book makes it clear that, regardless of past experience, anyone can develop the basic strengths, skills and capacities needed for a great relationship.

Really great points!

This book is really good for engaged couples as well as newly weds. I gained sooo much knowledge from Linda and Charlie and I felt her and her husband were almost the same personality as my fiance and I so I really could relate. The voices were a bit monotone at first but once you get used to it, it's fine. The content of the book overrides the voices. Highly recommend!

A Must-Have Handbook for Relationship

I purchased this audiobook after the exciting and nerve racking talk of engagement for marriage began with my partner. I had hoped that perhaps I could glean some wisdom from it that would help me in the days to come.

What I found was much more than a marriage book. This enlightening text is full of wisdom that could be applied to any kind of long term relating — be it with a spouse, a best friend, or even a Mother, Father, or siblings… Anyone who is a more permanent part of your life.

The book itself is charming and well written, by two people who have obviously taken the bumpy journey into love, awareness, and commitment, with all its highs and lows.

The chapters are short and easy to digest, and the nuggets of gold are embedded in a variety of simple stories — real life experiences of couples who have taken the plunge into Love.

If you’re getting married or already married, or if you are in any long-term relationship, I’d recommend it.

Even if you’re not getting married, even if you wouldn’t touch marriage with a ten-foot-pole…I’d still recommend this book. It will give you wonderful and heartfelt insight into what it means to relate human to human, self to self.

Terrible audio quality and not a great book

The title was very appealing but this might be a better book for someone to read. The female audio version sounds exactly like a robot. It was hard to pay attention to. In addition, I respect the experience of the authors but from a faith based perspective disagree with some of their points. If you're looking for a Christian perspective, I wouldn't buy this book.

Make bias

Hated it . Not helpful at all would not recommend. Unfaithful marriage in a health book really does not work for me.
