About this listen
The tiny kingdom of Yurt is the perfect place - or so it seems - for someone who barely managed to graduate from the wizards' school, especially after all that embarrassment with the frogs. But Daimbert, newly hired Royal Wizard of Yurt, senses an evil spell at work. But who could be responsible? The beautiful young queen? Her flighty aunt? The dour chaplain? The old, retired Royal Wizard, who seems to know more than he's saying? Or someone from out of the castle's past? Daimbert quickly realizes that finding out and saving his kingdom may take all the magic he never learned properly in the first place, with his life the price of failure - good thing he knows how to improvise!

Who would have guessed that? When these cruel gods shuffled Earth like a deck of cards, nothing was in the same place anymore. Monsters, dungeons, and magical items appear scattered across the globe. Story
In the world’s most magical metropolis where spirits run noodle shops and cash-strapped dragons stage photo-ops for tourists, people still think fairies are nothing but stories, and that’s exactly how the fairies like it. It’s a lot easier to feast on humanity’s dreams when no one believes you exist. But while this arrangement works splendidly for most fair folk, Lola isn’t one of the lucky ones.

Story
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Given the importance of what they do, and the controversies that often surround them, and the violent people they sometimes confront, it is remarkable that in the history of this country only four active federal judges have been murdered. Judge Raymond Fawcett has just become number five.... What did you love best about A Bad Spell in Yurt?
A Bad Spell in Yurt is an absolute breath of fresh air. The story, the characters, and the reader were all perfect. So much SciFi has gone the way of dark stories of atrocities, not this book. You'll laugh (while not being over the top) and the story really pulls you in.Any additional comments?
If you like this book Audible has the next two books in the series too.Love this book!

If you could sum up A Bad Spell in Yurt in three words, what would they be?
Imaginative, witty, fantasical.Who was your favorite character and why?
Daimbert. He is a slightly in competent wizard who strives to do the best to his ability. His first person narrative, is witty, charming, and down right endearing. What does Eric Vincent bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I have listened to hundreds upon hundreds of audio books. Eric Vincent is EASILY in the top 3 narrators I have EVER heard. His voice of Daimbert(and the other characters) is absolutely FLAWLESS. I found myself just snuggled up on my couch and following along with the audiobook to my paperback copy of the book.It is about time this ingenious series has been put to audio, and the narrator could not possibly be better!!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
We could only be so lucky if Hollywood actually made the Yurt books into big budget movies.Any additional comments?
The World of Yurt books by C. Dale Brittain, are by far one of the best series of fantasy I have ever read. I have read thousands of fantasy books. I would never get tired of the world of Yurt, and the character of Daimbert. I wish there were 50 of these books to the series. Sadly there are only 6...hopefully the series will always continue. This is light hearted fanatsy--it is very whimsical, witty, and colorful. With each page, you can FEEL the world that Brittain has created. You simply don't read these books--you SEE them. Each novel is FUN, and you are saddened when the story ends because you persistently want MORE.
If you ever get tired of reading the darker gritty stuff(which I do), 'The World of Yurt' books are the PERFECT escapism. You will not regret it.
Light hearted fantasy, funny and imaginative!

Especially I wanted to comment, if anyone is worried about glitches in the second file--any problems have been taken care of. Enjoy the listening experience!

Eric Vincent did a great job
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
Ms. Brittain does an excellent job of world building. It feels like a real world in its own right, not just medieval Europe with magic thrown in. In addition, each novel is almost a mystery story, as well. Daimbert confronts a series of seemingly unrelated problems, and gradually uncovers the connection between them. She does a nice job of keeping us guessing, but never makes you feel that she cheated when the truth is revealed.
So the two of them together bring us magic, and bring the magic! I definitely recommend this series to any who enjoyed the books, or even those who are looking for good fantasy.
Great voice casting
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A better narrator. The second audio file not skipping a number of chaptersWhat did you like best about this story?
It's an interesting take on detective fantasyWhat did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The narrator does not have a good voice for characters nor for audiobook narration as a whole. What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
DisappointmentAny additional comments?
