About this listen

Revisit the Monstrous couples from the first seven novels of the series in this collection of sixteen short stories. Plus, meet a new Monstrous couple in a brand new novella, Ruke.

Catch up with the original monster-human couple, Danny and Wyn, in their Wastes-style adventures. Witness Moth and Wyn's blossoming and potentially concerning friendship. Find out all the new ways Edin has been frustrating Hunter (lovingly) since their story ended. And join Lor and Jugs in welcoming a new furry addition to their monster-world family.

Want to find out more about Wyn's ex Orlith? In this collection, you can take a peek at some very old letters between the two telyths, hear Orlith's historic (pre-Danny) attempts to seduce our favorite grumpy Soul Eater, and meet his uptight and righteous older sibling.

Ruke, A Monstrous Novella

In the brand new novella Ruke, human Jamie finally finds the one being he can trust after a lifetime of loneliness…

I was born the night monsters rose on earth. I'm a true child of the new world. I've never met a single other soul except for my dad, who decided to keep us out here in the Wastes when he escaped with me from the hospital that catastrophic night.

But now Dad's gone, and I'm alone. Completely alone. I don't trust humans—not raiders, not the military, not all the people living in those big dirty coastal cities—so I find the most remote spot I can to settle down and live out the rest of my life on my own, just like my dad always taught me was safest.

I'm not on my own out here. Something is here with me—someone is leaving me strange gifts by my campfire every night. And suddenly, I realize that I don't want to be alone anymore. I don't want them to go.

When he finally shows himself to me, I realize that my mystery companion out here isn't human. And that suits me just fine.

This is a collection of short stories set within the Monstrous universe, a post-apocalyptic m/m fantasy series that features monsters and human men falling in love. It is best to listen to the series in order. For mature listeners.

Queen Lily Mayne

I was so excited when this audiobook dropped unexpectedly. It was so good, like visiting old friends. I can’t wait for the next book of Cat and lyri to drop.

Left in bad takes

I love this series and the narrator is one of my favorites but who ever is in charge of the final take left in mistakes. At one point he reads Wyn’s line in Danny’s voice and a deep sigh after a flubbed sentence. It doesn’t happen often but it takes you out of the story.

mischievous monsters

It was a lot of fun getting to listen to the little moments that happened between the books, or the mischief other characters were getting up to while the main characters were having their big adventure! I loved the new story with Ruke and Jamie especially!

Audio mistakes.

First, I love this series! So glad to have these extra little glimpses in to the lives of the characters we have all grown to love! I can’t believe Lor and Jugs had a fade to black at the end though… I felt a little cheated by it. I hope to see more shorts of them in the future. And Saraph and Lilac as well! Otherwise, loved the stories! Moth and Wyn are my favorite, and the pieces with them together had me rolling! They are definitely the best dynamic I didn’t know I needed… Second, I do feel the need to bring up, again, that there are an irritating amount of mistakes left in these audiobooks. Repeated lines, even dramatic sighing from the narrator when a line is flubbed before restarting and continuing on… why are these things not edited out? Obviously there will be mistakes in the recording process, but the Final Cut should not include them. It pulls the listener out of the experience. One, I wouldn’t blink at, but it is multiple throughout each audiobook in this series… and with a $40 price tag… they should be good quality.

loved it all except orlith.. that was disappointing.

I really loved this book until it got to orlith? really sad they didn't have one with seraph. love wyn & Danny the most which is why I probably really hated the part I dislike. this book is worth listening to. but If I ever relist to it like I do with the others I will be skipping over the part I dislike. to understand why I really hate it is because who wants to hear about wyn hooking up with a past lover even tho it was in the past? as much as you say it's the past it doesn't feel like it when you just got done listening to a part where danny & wyn are together. also us readers really get into the book & see them as really people almost while reading specially when we really like certain characters. why would we want to here about past hook ups? it's like why would Danny want to hear about wyns past which would mean why would we want to? I would of let it past if the author kept wyn denying him when he kept trying but the writer made him give into sleeping with him again. again the author had mentioned it was in the past but again it doesn't feel like it when we just listen to Danny. I just don't see why that part was put in here. if you really wanted orlith in it then it would of bee. Just fine when he tried the one time trying to get with wyn & when he was talking with his brother but to have them have a sex seen is messed up. I'm glad that part was a huge part of this book. I would of gave this a full 5 stars but that part really got to me. why do you want to hear about a loveable characters & the past hook up? it wasn't even necessary to put it into the book. there are so many other characters that could of taken that part to make the story longer I'd that was the case. sorry I kept going on about it but I get so into books it's like I feel bad for Danny. if the author wanted someone to have a past hook up it should of been someone else. specially not with a partner that was a virgin. I hated that on the wyn book. Danny only being with wyn & then to meet his hook up? why not make someone else with a hook up that both partners weren't a virgin like edin & his partner? I will relisten to this book but will skip over some parts....

Great!

Ruke and Jamie were so sweet, I wish they had had a book of their own. Before they met face to face, when Ruke was leaving gifts and begun learning English from listening to Jamie talk, it reminded me a lot of Frankenstein.
Also, the human rooting around inside the hardware store must have been Rig. Too bad that they didn’t interact with him.

It was pretty hilarious to learn that Danny gets turned on when he’s supposed to be scared. The wires are crossed in his head and it makes him the perfect partner to Wyn 😅

I wish there had been a part about Lilac and Seraph, I don’t understand why there wasn’t.

I hope we won’t have to wait too much longer for Cat and Lyri’s book!

Waiting for more

I can’t wait for the next book in the series!
This is my one and only dystopian series that I have been enthralled with.

Disappointed

I own the book and yet I wanted the hear the audio but honestly I’m just disappointed and idk why I do this to myself after the mistake that was Seraph. Once again, whenever is in charge of audio production, left in tons of mistakes and it just yanks me out of the story.
Michael is laughing through part of Wyns lines, he coughs, uses the wrong voices, murmurs the words, and uses the wrong words - island instead of inside.
Whomp whomp.
