About this listen

Jonah Beecham is a down-on-his-luck cowboy, stuck in Vegas with no money, no job, no friends, and Christmas rapidly approaching. Although he’d been promised a job as a bullfighter, the job falls through, and he’ll be sleeping in his truck for Christmas.

In a fit of desperation, he drops a coin in an old-fashioned slot machine and wins enough to put gas in his truck...plus a little something extra. Rather than press his luck, he decides to leave the casino, but the universe isn’t done with him yet.

Zach Evans is a television writer from Los Angeles who loves all things cowboy. He’s in Las Vegas to do some research at an end-of-year rodeo event. Too wary to approach any of the sexy cowboys he sees, he finally takes a chance when he bumps into Jonah.

Spending the next week in Zach’s bed might seem like Jonah’s luck has changed, but when Jonah realizes he’s falling for a man who lives in a city where none of his skills are employable, he’s got a choice to make. Fear of the unknown will cost him Zach, but accepting that the universe has more luck in store for him might be more than he can handle.

Heart, Humor & Some Sweet Christmas Magic

When needing a sweet little mood-boosting story, this audiobook is on my short list of go-to listens. While this is a tale of insta-love, the quick progression of cowboy Jonah and TV writer Zach's relationship still felt natural (a case of "when you know, you know"). Both are such sweet and likeable characters that you really root for them (especially prideful Jonah, who has been dealt a tough hand in life) and their HEA.

This was my third KC Burn audiobook (the others being the first two "Galactic Alliance" series books, also recommended) and my first audiobook with narrator Darcy Stark. I really enjoyed his narration - smooth delivery with distinct character voices - and will be seeking out his other works.

Sweet holday story

December is the month to binge on holiday stories. I love Christmas it’s my favourite holiday of the year, there’s just so much I love about it. I love the lights that decorate windows, balconies and the trees. They are everywhere and light up the dark. They bring hope and joy. I also love to bake all the different Christmas cookies, listening to Christmas songs, new and old. But more importantly spending time with the people I love; my family.

I’ve read many holiday stories the past month or so, and all of them have one thing in common; the hope and joy. Some also make me appreciate the things I have and take for granted; again a family that loves me and are always there for me. A job and a home. Many don’t have that; Jonah Beecham being one of them. He’s down on his last few bucks, and the promise of a job has taken him to Vegas.

As it turns out, his ex was slimier than a blob of goo – and about as appealing. The job and place to stay was not on the horizon anymore, so in his frustration he started walking, and walking. He accidentally bumps into Zach, a writer from LA and the two are instantly drawn to each other. They decide to spend the week together. A week where they grow closer and realise that one chance meeting can change your life – if you dare to take a chance.

Listening to this story will have you believe in chance meetings and possibly that luck could be found in a slot machine. Zach and Jonah were great together, they just fit right from the start. It’s a story low on angst but high on the cutesy factor.

I love Darcy Stark’s narration, well performance of this book. I loved the southern accent, it really added to the feel and sense of place of the book, made it feel authentic. Not that wouldn’t have felt authentic without the accent; it’s just that it added another layer to it.

Stark really captured and made the listener feel what the characters were going through. He made you feel Jonah’s desperation and anger when he realised his ex had played him. But also the budding hope for a future with Zach, the fear of risking it all. He made you believe – and what more could you ask of a holiday story?

A Cowboy’s Christmas Luck was a sweet Christmas story, filled with love – and yes luck.

Short and enjoyable.

I love audiobooks of this length because I can easily listen to them in one evening. Darcy Stark did a great job with the audiobook; his voice was perfect for this story.

This was a bit of an insta-love story but I don’t mind those like some people do. In a book of this length things need to happen pretty fast but this felt like a much longer story (in a good way).

Jonah is afraid to take a chance on following Zach to LA but someone spreads a little bit of Christmas magic to help him out and he and Zach get their HEA.

Luck When You Need It

I love that they best thing Zach gave Jonah was hope and desire for life. The rest is just a wonderful bonus.

Will warm your funny bone

4.5 Blue Roses
4 Blue Flames

Narrator Darcy Stark lit this little firecracker with his smooth enticing voice causing a magical Christmas explosion. This book is perfect for a little pick me upper - filling the deepest darkest corners of your heart with bright happy white light of Christmas magic. I found this this short story entertaining and humorous.
My favorite line: "Zach twisted like a dolphin, pulling open the bedside drawer, he tossed a full bottle of lube and a brand new box of condoms towards Jonah" Yes, I know it's not funny now, of course not. I recently swam with dolphins, that's why,,,
The plot and character development is familiar, but it will jingle the bells perfectly.
I recommend this audiobook for when you are in the mood for a quick and fast one!

Christmas awes

This is by far one of the best Christmas cowboy books I've read/listened to in a while. You can't help but want the best for Jonah, you feel everything he's going through and just want to wrap him up so nothing else happens. Zach was like a fallen angel and you could tell from the first *bump* that they were going to get a HEA💖💖
I so want to know more lol how was the tv show, how was everything else lol

A Cowboy’s Christmas Luck by K. C. Burn

A Cowboy’s Christmas Luck by K. C. Burn

Contemporary holiday M-M romance novella.
Jonah was promised a job but when that falls through, he is stuck in Las Vegas without money, a job and without prospects. Using his last few coins at an old fashioned slot machine, Jonah wins a few dollars, and a new friend and lover.
Maybe it won’t be such a dismal holiday after all.

A heart wrenching romance that gives hope to a lonely Cowboy. A wonderful ending that made me completely happy. I love a good romance.

Short, fun read!

The narrator did a good job with the story. Yet, I would have preferred if she gave the cowboy a cowboy accent. I kept getting Jonah and Zack mixed up. Otherwise, it was an excellent story. The characters were endearing, the story was well-paced and enchanting. I couldn't stop listening and was anxiously waiting to see how things would work out.
