About this listen

I thought falling in love with my best friend would be the biggest shock of my life. I couldn’t have been more wrong….

Coming back home with my tail between my legs after a bitter divorce and a failed business venture isn’t exactly the life I’d envisioned for myself.

At least there’s Bennett. Strong and steady as always, even if there is a simmering anger in him that wasn’t there when we were boys.

When that anger finally boils over, I’m braced for a fight, but what I get instead…is a kiss.

A kiss that changes everything.

But a surprise visit threatens the new life Bennett and I are beginning to build together. Now I’m faced with an impossible choice: Return to the safe, predictable life I’d always planned on with my ex-wife….

Or take a chance on the unexpected love of a lifetime.

My Best Friend’s Secret is a friends-to-lovers, bi-awakening romance set in the cozy little town of Fairlake. And while Adam and Bennett will have cameos in future stories, each book in this series can be listened to as a standalone.

From Friends to Lovers

I always enjoy stories from Romeo Alexander and this is another good one. This friends to lovers story really kept me interested from start to finish. I appreciated the progression of Adam and Bennett's relationship to their HEA. I really enjoyed the narration by Michael Dean.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Adam and Bennett

Childhood best friends find new levels to their relationship. While Adam is typical dense man. But so sweet once he clues in. I adored reading the progression of their love story.

Sweet and easy

I got a free promo code for the audio version.
Such a sweet story on a bi-awakening and friends-to-lovers. It's low angst, no triggers, and very well written. I would have loved more backstory on their relationship but mostly on Bennett. The narration was on point and it really worked.
I look forward to reading the next in the series.
Worth a read!

Great narration, but the story stalled

It is a solid book with great narration. It’s not a bad story line and the characters are developed, but for me the story just kind of lulled. There was really only two points of the story where Adam and Bennett moved the plot along and those moments were rushed. On the same hand, other parts seemed to drag. For example, after the first progression of the plot point, there was this whole scene with two other characters stories that felt weird and out of place and went on for so long.

All in all if you’re looking for something to pass time it’s a solid choice.

Childhood Friends to Lovers

I enjoyed listening to this new-to-me series starter. I picked up the audio when I saw it's by one of my favorite narrator, Michael Dean.

The town of Fairlake, with all its small-town glory, the good, the bad and the ugly, is charming. I love meeting the characters and adore Bennett! His antics and his general disposition makes you wanna be friends with him. While I can't stand miscommunication or no-communication trope, I was able to get past this one because of how Bennett handled it.

The ending felt a bit rushed, but the epilogue was a good way to show how Bennett and Adam carried on years down the line.

Loved this story

A new author for me. I was very happy to read this one and then thrilled that it was already on audio. Loved Bennett and Adam. 2nd chance best friends bi-romance. Great story and amazing secondary characters that we already get to know in this book. Happy to have given this one a chance.

Story line

Family interaction. Parents and children. Doesn’t always need sexual details to add positive meaning to the story. Thank you very much.

I loved the story and the narration

I like best friends to lovers stories so I was already curious. Romeo Alexander has a great writing style that made it easy for me to dive into the story quickly.
Adam and Bennett are best friends until Adam moves away and they lose track of each other. After a failed marriage, Adam returns to his hometown.
And so the two meet again and spend a lot of time together as well. But how do you handle it when you've been in love with your best straight friend for a long time?
No sooner are they on good terms than unforeseen complications arise.
You've got to love Bennett. He is very likable, warm and humorous. There were some delightfully funny moments with Benett. Adam, on the other hand, is more of a quiet guy, but I liked him a lot too.
The story is entertaining and diverting and features interesting side characters that I would love to hear more from.

Michael Dean did a great job, as always. He perfectly understands how to bring the characters and their emotions to life. He was a pleasure to listen to and I highly recommend the audiobook!

Great Narration on A Story That Fell Flat

So this story was just okay. The story had a lot of potential but firstly, it dragged a bit in the beginning. Then when things finally started to get moving between the characters, there was a pretty long random scene all about Chase and Devin’s history which I found kinda bizarre giving it took place the morning after Bennet and Adam’s first kiss and sexual encounter when they should have been focused more on them and where they go from here. It seemed like an inorganic way to tie in another book in the series in a shoehorned type of way, rather than Bennet or Adam actually experiencing events with other characters that we would then learn more about. The earlier scenes in the bar with Issac felt organic and made me want to know more about him, and it was such an opposite juxtaposition with the random Chase and Devin facts. I found myself thinking “Who cares? What does this have to do with Adam and Bennet?”. Adam also was annoying after the ex arrived. I get she was supposed to be angst for them but once she showed up he just fell back in to practically getting back with her, yet had no discussions about what relationship of lack there of he wanted with her despite spending weeks hanging out with her. It really irked me and almost made me think Adam really didn’t deserve Bennett. Then Adam calls and Bennet like the amazing guy he is comes running, and after Bennet being hurt again they are just slapped back together with no real buildup to it, and then the story is pretty much over. I did like Bri calling Adam out for his lack of saying anything to both her and Bennett and the epilogue was nice but at that point I was already disappointed with the story in general. Michael Dean though was the saving grace for this story as he did a wonderful job but the story overall was not as good as expected.
