Publisher's summary

Fearless men, their allegiance is to one another, to the oppressed, and to the secret society known as the Brotherhood of the Sword - and they must never surrender to the passionate yearnings of their noble hearts.

A lady of love

Beautiful, peace-loving Rowena knows that Stryder of Blackmoor is a warrior, and is therefore a man to be shunned.

But something burns in the eyes of this powerful knight that she has never seen in others of his kind: a tenderness, and a need to love and be loved. Yet to enter his world would be madness - against every principle by which she has lived her life - so she must resist the yearning that would draw her into his arms.

A man of war

Duty bound to battle for right, Stryder has never desired the comforts of home and hearth - until he gazed upon the exquisite face and form of the incomparable Rowena. He dares not succumb to her sensuous charms, for Stryder is a man sworn to know no love. But when treachery and danger threaten, the noble knight must stand as the unsuspecting lady's champion - though his actions could cost him his honor, his heart...and his forbidden dream of happiness.

Contains mature themes.

Miss

This was a miss for me. The hero and heroine are insufferably immature. Why would the heroine want to coddle a full grown man who has the emotional maturity of a toddler for the rest of her life? Give me emotionally balanced or give me death! But seriously, this is a common theme in this genre and usually I can go with it but not this time. I really don't know why this one pushed me over the edge but it did. This book can be skipped and nothing will be lost.

Make it make sense

As far as Highland Romances go, this series was already pretty *meh*. There isn't any build-up to the insta-love couples. There's a ton of alluded-to backstory and very little actual character development. The saving grace is narrator Antony Ferguson's soothing voice. But this PARTICULAR story in the series was so bad that it lingered. I dwelled on the plotholes in sleepless moments. I convinced myself I must have missed books in the series or read it out of order, but NO. I looked it up. I even looked up other books written under the author's other name (Sherrilyn Kenyon). Nope. Didn't miss anything. It's just that bad. Yikes. At least it was part of Audible's free selection.
