Recent MBA grad Bronwyn Crewse has just taken over her family's ice cream shop in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and she's going back to basics. But unexpected construction delays mean she misses the summer season, and the shop has a literal cold opening: The day she opens her doors an early first snow descends on the village and keeps the customers away.

To make matters worse, that evening, Win finds a body in the snow, and it turns out the dead man was a grifter with an old feud with the Crewse family. Soon, Win's father is implicated in his death. It's not easy to juggle a new-to-her business while solving a crime, but Win is determined to do it. it moved at a good pace. Mazy cracked me up. it was the first murder mystery I could listen to with my kid in the car. no foul language that I can recall and no sex.

I have given other books with an ice cream theme a try and was disappointed. However, I'm very happy that I gave this book a try. It is funny without trying and has a great cast of characters. Bronwyn, Maise and Riya are a great team and I love their "Ride or Die" friendship. The mystery is well written and fast paced with several plot twists. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next book in this series.

This was a very cute story, with a murderous twist. The characters were simple and just enough to keep the story straight. There was no confusion between the characters. The ice cream shop inheritance story line was interesting along with the others who 'acquired' shops. If you're looking for an easy listening story, this is a good one. 😊

This book was a delight to listen to. The combination of family dynamics, a small business owner trying to relaunch her family's legacy ice cream store, and the meta murder mystery elements is a winning combination.

Also it really made me want ice cream.

This cozy mystery is centered around a reopening of an ice cream shop during the winter like temperature of autumn. Nice to have a change of location from the usual cafe, bakery or bookstore. The narration was a bit slow and was much better at the speed of 1.2 and 1.5. Otherwise, I enjoyed the narrator. The use of the name ‘PopPop’ reminded me of my daughter and my father. Lovely connection.

overall the story is fine, but the narrator is SO HORRIBLE and I really think it is a computer. Sad that I already purchase book two, which has the same narrator.

This book was soooo slow. Probably the most basic mystery I’ve ever listened to. It should be a YA selection as it read more like a volume of Goosebumps than an adult murder suspense book. I can’t fathom that these characters were adults who supposedly were of the age to have graduated college but don’t know how to use Google or what can be found in a search?! And the plot was sooo drawn out. It felt like the author had a word count to meet and just filled the pages rather than actually telling a suspenseful story. It literally didn’t get exciting until the last 22 mins. With all that said, it wasn’t the worst book, just slow. Listen when you need to pass time or before bed. Also, the narrator was very monotone…think Kourtney Kardashian lol.
