Publisher's summary

This book kicks off a charming cozy mystery series set in an ice cream shop—with a fabulous cast of quirky characters.

Recent MBA grad Bronwyn Crewse has just taken over her family's ice cream shop in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and she's going back to basics. Win is renovating Crewse Creamery to restore its former glory, and filling the menu with delicious, homemade ice cream flavors—many from her grandmother's original recipes. But unexpected construction delays mean she misses the summer season, and the shop has a literal cold opening: The day she opens her doors an early first snow descends on the village and keeps the customers away.

To make matters worse, that evening, Win finds a body in the snow, and it turns out the dead man was a grifter with an old feud with the Crewse family. Soon, Win's father is implicated in his death. It's not easy to juggle a new-to-her business while solving a crime, but Win is determined to do it. With the help of her quirky best friends and her tight-knit family, she'll catch the ice cold killer before she has a meltdown....

Highly Entertaining

I have given other books with an ice cream theme a try and was disappointed. However, I'm very happy that I gave this book a try. It is funny without trying and has a great cast of characters. Bronwyn, Maise and Riya are a great team and I love their "Ride or Die" friendship. The mystery is well written and fast paced with several plot twists. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next book in this series.

Fun, Entertaining Mystery

This book was a delight to listen to. The combination of family dynamics, a small business owner trying to relaunch her family's legacy ice cream store, and the meta murder mystery elements is a winning combination.

Also it really made me want ice cream.

Cute, But Boring

This book was soooo slow. Probably the most basic mystery I’ve ever listened to. It should be a YA selection as it read more like a volume of Goosebumps than an adult murder suspense book. I can’t fathom that these characters were adults who supposedly were of the age to have graduated college but don’t know how to use Google or what can be found in a search?! And the plot was sooo drawn out. It felt like the author had a word count to meet and just filled the pages rather than actually telling a suspenseful story. It literally didn’t get exciting until the last 22 mins. With all that said, it wasn’t the worst book, just slow. Listen when you need to pass time or before bed. Also, the narrator was very monotone…think Kourtney Kardashian lol.

horrible narrator, ok story

overall the story is fine, but the narrator is SO HORRIBLE and I really think it is a computer. Sad that I already purchase book two, which has the same narrator.

Family Oriented Cozy

This new cozy series set in the charming town of Chagrin Falls, Ohio is delightful. Who doesn’t love a family Ice Cream Store as the main setting. The youngest member of the family and granddaughter of the founders, is now running the store. Unfortunately after renovations were delayed, it didn’t reopen to around Halloween. Unfortunately there was a snow storm on the day it reopened so no customers came. While going to get the special snow by the falls, she stumbles across a dead body. After her doctor father is suspected of the murder, she becomes a very reluctant sleuth. With the help of friends and family she attempts to find out who the real murderer is.

This is a great story with delightful characters. The importance of family sticking together is a key element.

The narrator brought the story to life! Her voice was pleasant to listen to.

A fun mystery

This book was light, bit interesting. There was no graphic description. The story was clean and engaging. The main characters were well developed. I enjoyed it immensely.

New Abby Collette Fan!

The Crewse family is a hoot and fun to follow. I look forward to getting to know them better in future novels. The pacing is good and the twists are nice. A few too many details in some places but overall a great opening for a new cozy mystery entrant.
