Meet military spouse, soccer mom, professional organizer, and savvy sleuth, Ellie Avery!

Moving four times in five years has honed air force wife Ellie Avery's packing and unpacking skills. Enjoyable overall

The plot and writing were good. It flowed well. i would like to see better character development, but with so many of them, it would have been a much longer book.

The narrator performed well, but her voice didn't seem suited to the material. Every time I was away from the book for more than a few minutes, her breathless, almost childlike, voice took me out of the story for a minute to adjust to it. She sounded too much like a teen to feel believable as a capable, young mother. Her work would be great in the right role.

It’s fine

I can’t remember listening to a cozy mystery with military elements. We follow Elli, wife of a air force pilot, she realizes a death of another military wife wasn’t an accident.
Elli starts asking questions and doesn’t stop. The mystery element was fine. The characters were fine. The narrator was fine. See where I’m going.

Fabulous writing and narration to match!

I could not stop listening ~ completed the audiobook in two days! The story is captivating, the characters engaging, and the plot twist compelling! Gail Shalan’s narration is perfection ~ always appropriately nuanced and never overdone, and I totally believed each and every character delineation employed. And Ms. Shalan made “Ellie” my favorite heroine! I, for one, will buy every one in this series which she narrates! Impeccable!

Not Ms Rosett’s best book.

Usually her books are well researched and engaging. This one had a serious research issue and felt a little flat.
Bee allergies are not the same as wasp allergies. Rarely do people have both.

well researched

the army played a bit part in the book as a background to the characters and their spouses

very slow moving

the narrator is very slow almost drug like tone. she talks in an off handish way that makes the listener think she is drugged up

the story line is great especially if one has any military experience.

Enjoyed this story!

Kept me guessing! I enjoyed this story about an army wife who was a bit nosy about the murders that happened close by. I also liked the moving/organizing facts that were dispersed throughout the story.

This was a miss for me

I love Sara Rosett's other books so I was excited about this. As a military spouse (and mom of several children) I was intrigued by the characters and setting. I didn't feel like it represented my military experience, much, if at all. Ellie, the main character was a pretty big downer. I was kinda irritated with how much she complained (ironic, since that appears to be all I'm doing in this review). But...I do love the twists and turns and the way the author wraps things up.

The performance was ok. Her voice was very relaxing.

narrator whispers

couldn't get through 1st chap. narrator whispers then some of the characters talk real loud. if you're trying to relax...forget it. I can't hear her then I turn it up then when someone else speaks I nearly jump out my skin. keep turning it up and down. also so many characters introduced in the 1st chapter...can't get to know them.
