About this listen
The final book in The Song of the Shattered Sands series closes the epic fantasy saga in a desert setting, filled with rich worldbuilding and pulse-pounding action.
The plans of the desert gods are coming to fruition. Meryam, the deposed queen of Qaimir, hopes to raise the buried elder god, Ashael, an event that would bring ruin to the desert.
Çeda and Emre sail for their ancestral home to bring the traitor, Hamid, to justice. To their horror, they discover that the desert tribes have united under Hamid's banner. Their plan? A holy crusade to annihilate Sharakhai, a thing long sought by many in the tribes. In Sharakhai, meanwhile, the blood mage, Davud, examines the strange gateway between worlds, hoping to find a way to close it. And King Ihsan hunts for Meryam, but always finds himself two steps behind.
When Meryam raises Ashael, all know the end is near. Ashael means to journey to the land that was denied to him an age ago, no matter the cost to the desert. It now falls to Çeda and her unlikely assortment of allies to find a way to unite not only the desert tribes and the people of Sharakhai, but the city's invaders as well. Even if they do, stopping Ashael will cost them dearly, perhaps more than all are willing to pay.

The Catenan Republic—the Hierarchy—may rule the world now, but they do not know everything. I tell them my name is Vis Telimus. I tell them I was orphaned after a tragic accident three years ago, and that good fortune alone has led to my acceptance into their most prestigious school. I tell them that once I graduate, I will gladly join the rest of civilized society in allowing my strength, my drive, and my focus—what they call Will—to be leeched away and added to the power of those above me, as millions already do. As all must eventually do.

The boy has lived his whole life trapped within a book-choked chamber older than empires and larger than cities. The girl has been plucked from the outskirts of civilization to be trained as a librarian, studying the mysteries of the great library at the heart of her kingdom. They were never supposed to meet. But in the library, they did. Their stories spiral around each other, across worlds and time. This is a tale of truth and lies and hearts, and the blurring of one into another.

Once, there were four worlds, nestled like pages in a book, each pulsing with fantastical power and connected by a single city: London. Until the magic grew too fast and forced the worlds to seal the doors between them in a desperate gamble to protect their own. The few magicians who could still open the doors grew more rare as time passed and now, only three Antari are known in recent memory—Kell Maresh of Red London, Delilah Bard of Grey London, and Holland Vosijk, of White London.

The dictatorial Augurs, once thought of almost as gods, were overthrown and wiped out during the conflict, their much-feared powers mysteriously failing them. Those who had ruled under them, men and women with a lesser ability known as the Gift, avoided the Augurs' fate only by submitting themselves to the rebellion's Four Tenets.

Tamsyn Muir’s Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers. Her characters leap out of the audio, as skillfully animated as arcane revenants. The result is a heart-pounding epic science fantasy. Brought up by unfriendly, ossifying nuns, ancient retainers, and countless skeletons, Gideon is ready to abandon a life of servitude and an afterlife as a reanimated corpse.

You define life or it defines you. In Shawn Speakman’s case, it was both. Lacking health insurance and diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2011, Shawn quickly accrued a massive medical debt that he did not have the ability to pay. That’s when New York Times best-selling author Terry Brooks offered to donate a short story that Shawn could sell to help alleviate those bills—and suggested he ask the same of his other writer friends. Unfettered is the result: An anthology built in order to relieve that debt, featuring short stories by some of the best fantasy writers in the genre.

Now, the third Moontide is almost here, and this time the people of the East are ready for a fight... but it is three seemingly ordinary people that will decide the fate of the world.

Brilliant!
I can remember when I listened to the first book, and I thought to myself, "I am not sure..." There a lot of unsavory people in this series, and thankfully there is a lot of justice well served. These books will be on my list of the best of the best. I don't have the words to describe how much I enjoyed this book. Kate Readung was in top form. Bradley P. Beaulieu wove a story as fine a silk. Thank you both for the many hours of enjoyment.

Excellent Ending To A Excellent Series
It's rare that you have a six book series that manages to not have any lag in one of the middle books, but Song of Shattered Sands does just that. I enjoyed every book in this series and couldn't wait for the next. A Desert Torn Asunder is the best one yet as Beaulieu finds away to weave all the threads of the previous stories into a fantastic conclusion.
There were some minor pitfalls in the audio version of this series as there was a narrator change in the middle which no one likes. However bringing in a legendary narrator like Kate Reading turned out to be a plus for me. I think the author should consider having Reading go back and redo the first couple books to give the series completion, though I know some preferred the original narrator Sarah Coomes.
Overall, I enjoyed this series and this book. I will miss the characters who have brought me hours of listening pleasure.

I'd rather read the physical book.
I'm not a fan of character voices and there's lot in this narration. I especially don't like the women characters being read in wimpering whispers and the male characters read in monster voices. Makes me feel like a child listening to a bedtime story. Sometimes it seemed like the narrator didn't realize who was speaking until the end of a sentence, so the voice established for that character was missed and then picked back up after the realization. It also lacked dramatic pauses after monumental events.

last book was nothing but filler
The story was finished and then extended with a minor thread. it left me feeling the character were being dragged forward for no reason.
