About this listen

As a toddler, in a room illuminated only by the flames of a fallen candle, Jacobia Tiptree watched a man kill her mother. Jake once believed that man to be her father. Now, 35 years after the murder, as the real killer's long-delayed trial is about to begin, the defendant has vanished.

Jake tries to distract herself from murder with the constant attempts to keep her 1823 Federal-style fixer-upper from tumbling down on her head. But when her best friend's infant daughter suddenly goes missing, Jake feels her dark past wrapping itself around her...and needless to say, it's nowhere near as charming as her rickety old house.

Best of the series so far

I really enjoyed this book. I have liked all the previous books in the series but I had trouble putting this one down.

One of her best books yet!

What made the experience of listening to A Face at the Window the most enjoyable?

The plot was not the standard "who-dun it" there were new elements that I've not read in mystery books before.

What did you like best about this story?

The twists and turns that happened in the plot.

What does Lindsay Ellison bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I like that she is true to the Maine pronunciations of things.

Suspenseful. Plenty of twists and turns. True to her characters. Sub plots are great. Read it!

I Really enjoy these books

I do have one thing, I’m flummoxed by. Why did her husband have the same last name as her dad. Did they explain this? It pulls me out of the story when I think about it.

Ends suddenly

I like her books but this one seemed to just end suddenly..or I thought it did. It wasn't as good as some of her other books but was still enjoyable.

Dark and cozy

I love Sarah Graves' Home Repair Mysteries series. Jake Tiptree is a realistic character who sometimes faces extraordinary circumstances. This book is full of dark suspense but manages to remain a cozy mystery. If you are a fan of the series you have to read this one.
