Publisher's summary

Cat Latimer and her writer's retreat group go on a hiking trip - but a murderer has been lurking off the beaten path....

Cat's sweetheart, Seth, is going all out on an outing into the local mountains - for the benefit of the writing group Cat's hosting at her Colorado B&B. But when they try to identify some plant and animal life, they find death instead. The body belongs to a man with a gold claim a few miles away. Instead of striking it rich, he's been struck down.

To his surprise, Seth recognizes the victim from his military days - and up to now believed he'd already died during his last tour of duty. Now, Cat has to solve this mystery before the killer takes a hike....

Good story but...

Good story, but I didn't enjoy the performance at all. Inflections were very off and it made it very distracting. (i.e.... at times questions sounded like statements and statements sounded like questions.)

Fun Read

This was probably the best in the series so far. It moved quickly and kept me guessing and listening. Better than the last book and we had more character development, learning a lot more about Cat and Seth's earlier relationship.

A Couple’s Retreat

The latest retreat is two course and a local college student. A missed group of writers that don’t seem to bond. Shauna’s authoring a cook book and Seth is leading hikes for the retreats. A veteran’s reunion has Seth meeting old Army buddies and finding the body of a man who died ten years ago. Great narration and series.

Another great story

A great story with a great cast of characters. Lynn shows you the lives and thoughts as if you are sitting the scene with them.

Elementary

Weak predictable and annoying in audio. The narrator has a sharp pronunciation over emphasizing compound words

2, with regret

The narrator could have read this one backwards, I would have given it a 5. "A Field Guide to
Homicide" is the perfect title for a mystery/thriller, my mind skittered through a dozen humorous take offs before the bitter reality of what a difficult
time I had listening to the first
few chapters. It is still possible
the entire book is one giant satire.... Alas. Love the cover illustration.
