About this listen

Beacon news reporter Lindsey Fox is on the verge of breaking a huge story of political corruption that will make her career and make her famous journalist parents proud - or she could be thrown in jail and fired. It really could go either way.

Her recent streak of bad luck continues when Lindsey finds herself facing a bogus contempt charge - and attorney Ben Gillespie is appointed to get her out of the slammer. They once had a bad date of epic proportions - stilted conversation, food poisoning, burglary, towed car. Then there was the incident with the pepper spray. Lindsey never believed she'd see the sexy lawyer again.

Ben can totally believe that Lindsey is behind bars. The woman is trouble. Now he has to get his new client out of jail, keep her out of the grasp of a crazed bike messenger and a shady P.I., help her save her job, and convince her to put down the pepper spray and give him another chance.

An intriguing kind of trouble.

Any additional comments?

This is a lovely romance and mystery combination. The characters, Lindsey and Ben are very likable and real. The author does a great job at leading the reader (listener) through the twists and turns of the trouble Lindsey is facing. The character of Ben is amazingly understanding considering the hell he’s been accidentally put through by Lindsey. This is one of those audiobooks I will listen to frequently. The narration is also very good and keeps the story interesting.

OK listen

This was an ok listen with a good story line. There were several minor characters that had the potential to be more interesting than the main two, but they never got much time in the book. I didn't like the narration, there was an odd cadence at times and some male characters sounded more like females.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Amazing

Any additional comments?

This was my first audiobook and I absolutely loved it! I’ve had a couple friends that have been listening to them for the last couple years trying to get me to listen to one but I wouldn’t have it. Now I wish I would’ve listened to my friends! Denice Stradling did a wonderfully job at narrating the story and using different tones when needed. Unfortunately, she was the only narrator for the book so that was kind of a downfall on that. I was hoping to have a male for Bens part and a female for Lindsay’s part but besides that Denice did a great job distinguishing between each character. Overall, I really enjoyed this audiobook and I gave it five stars.

A Good Kind of Thriller

I loved this book. The protagonist Lindsey is being stalked and no one believes her. Ben witnesses her attacks and finally she has someone to believe her, but that doesn't help. She is ridiculed by her colleagues and her boss. All of this is happening, because she is getting too close to a story.

I love the layers Ellie Ashe brings to the characters. Lindsey is doing her best to live up to her renowned parents, but she is doing it in secret. She doesn't advertise that her mother is a world famous journalist and her father is the editor-in-chief of a major Los Angeles newspaper. I respect her for that.

I also love how Ben is on a journey of self discovery. He's trying to figure out if he wants to be a corporate lawyer drone who helps insurance companies win cases or does he want to be more proactive.

One advice I would give anyone who listens to this is to make note of all the characters in this book. There are no small characters. There are a lot of moving pieces that comes to a satisfying climax.

Mystery with some romance

Ellie Ashe and Denice Stradling are both very talented. The story was gripping and had some unexpected twists and humorous moments. The romance in the book was an added plus. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and/or publisher. This story does not end in a cliffhanger but with a happy ending.

Various nuances clearly reflected by narrator

What captivated me was the tagline: "There's always trouble in Twin Rivers...". I wanted to see what this trouble was and if I would like getting to know more about it. Well, I did like it and meeting Beacon news reporter Lindsey Fox was a pleasure. The chick is tenacious. She gets in to lots of trouble and this time needs Ben's help. The same Ben that she had a very bad date with. The same Ben that thinks she is trouble and wants another chance with the intriguing woman.

I loved this read because it had more romance and more mystery and just simply more. Ellie Ashe gave me a read that I could come back to over again. Lindsey was just so fun. This one had the twist the turns and the romance.

Narrator: Denice Stradling did a very good job getting me to get immersed in the world of Twin Rivers. There were ups, downs, ins, outs and Denice's voice reflected the various nuances. I loved there were no hiccups and no issues with the change in speed.

Great Book!

Any additional comments?

This is a great book; this is the first book in the Trouble in Twin Rivers series by Ellie Ashe and narrated by Denice Stradling. Lindsey is a news reporter for the Beacon. She is on the verge of a huge story of political corruption that will make her career. The next thing she finds herself facing bogus contempt charge. I enjoyed the characters and the story line. If you are looking for a good romance, with some mystery and humor then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

The narrator Denice Stradling did a wonderful job with this book. She did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end.

If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator. Fun, thrilling story!

Would you listen to A Good Kind of Trouble again? Why?

I would definitely listen to this book again.
This story is fun! Some times I feel a little out of it and don't want ANYTHING to do with mystery. Other times, I want it like chocolate ice cream. And A LOT of it. This story grabbed my attention with the blurb. The characters are well developed.
I must say that though the narrator and the audio were fantastic, and don't hold me to this, because I don't even know how to say it. Something fell short for me. But feeling pushed aside, I really liked this book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I'd say I would prefer to listen to it er a few days.
I almost thought I wouldn't have finished listening in time. My family was in the middle of house-hunting, we were all packing our stuff. So, my mind was not fully focused on what I was listening to. But I hopped right back into it a few days ago, started over and listened to the parts I needed more detail from.
