About this listen

Hoping to promote the Glass Dolphin antiques shop, co-owners Arabella Carpenter and Emily Garland agree to sponsor a hole in one contest at a charity golf tournament. The publicity turns out to be anything but positive, however, when Arabella’s errant tee shot lands in the woods next to a corpse.

They soon learn that the victim is closely related to Arabella’s ex-husband, who had been acting as the Course Marshal. With means, opportunity, and more than enough motive, he soon becomes the police department’s prime suspect, leaving Arabella and Emily determined to clear his name - even if they’re not entirely convinced of his innocence.

Dogged by incriminating Online posts from an anonymous blogger, they track down leads from Emily’s ex-fiancé (and the woman he left Emily for), an Elvis impersonator, and a retired antiques mall vendor with a secret of her own.

All trails lead to a mysterious cult that may have something to do with the murder. Can Arabella and Emily identify the killer before the murderer comes after them?

“What fun! A twisty tale chock full of clues and red herrings, antiques and secrets, and relationships that aren’t what they seem. And who doesn’t love an Elvis impersonator?” (Jane K. Cleland, award-winning author, Josie Prescott Antiques Mysteries and Mastering Plot Twists)

“A bang-up mystery! Two friends, two murders, secret pasts, and a touch of romance. Who could ask for more?” (Lea Wait, USA Today best-selling author, Shadows Antique Print and Mainely Needlepoint mysteries)

Better than expected

This was a nice cozy mystery with good characters and plot. There were some minor twists towards the end. A little bit of antiques, golf, Elvis and more all tied up in the story. Past relationships and present relationships merge in the story. Enjoyable story.

Great Mystery! Great Narration!

A Hole in One by Judy Penz Sheluk really impressed me. I so enjoy this author's writing style. She develops the characters wonderfully, writes a complex plot, has many unexpected twists, and does not make the killer obvious! I love it when I cannot predict the ending of a book. The narration by Kelli Lindsay brought the characters to life with her distinguishable voices and expressions. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. This book is the second in the Glass Dolphin series and is a standalone book. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Great Sequel

I really enjoyed this book. This is a great sequel. The mystery was well crafted. The characters are relatable and likable. I liked how things took a turn in Emily's plans. I think this book the chemistry between the characters is much better. The plot was well developed and moves at a great pace with well place clues and red herrings. I look forward to the next in the series.

I listened to the audio version of this book. The narrator does a great job of bringing the story and characters to life. She brings each character's personality off the page. I had no problems following which character was speaking.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way, I have been influenced by anyone.

One of the Best listening

Wonderful listening. You will not be able to put it down once you start listening. Wendy knows how to make each chapter continue in the same gripping excitement - the right to the end. But best of all (to me), I love Wendy's delightful ability to describe things. I laughed so much at her twists with words. She is a fabulous writer in every way!

Great story

I received a bonus code for an honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, the characters and the narrator. I especially enjoyed it because it mentions locations in Northern Ontario I am very familiar with -- Sault Sainte Marie and Goulais River.

Captivating, exciting and totally worthwhile!!

The charismatic pair Arabella and Emily get caught up in another murder investigation while sponsoring a golf tournament. The victim, as well as the people they talk to in order to find out what happened, have some interesting ties to them personally.

All the characters add something unique to the story. There is no boring, over the top or fake character and they all blend into the story well.

The story is well paced and kept me fascinated right to the very end. I couldnt stop listening and finished the book in one day. It was just as intriguing as the first book, and i hope that there will be more to come in this series. Until then, i am going to be going to Marketville for another mysterious journey :)

Note: This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this objective review voluntarily.

Enjoyable Cozy Mystery

A Hole in One brings back the characters of Arabella Carpenter and Emily Garland as the co-owners of the Glass Dolphin and a few more from The Hanged Man's Noose.
When the body that was found dead on the golf course during a charity golf outing turns out to be Arabella's ex-husband father, Levon becomes the main suspect. Arabella and Emily are determined to clear him and find out the truth.

This is a very enjoyable and fun story, with plenty of clues and twists and turn that keep you guessing.

Judy Penz Sheluk does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life and spinning a story. Kelli Lindsay has a perfect voice for narrating this story, having distinct voices for each character.

A Hole in One: A Glass Dolphin Mystery

A Hole in One was an excellent listen. This was a well-written, well-thought out book/audiobook. It kept me listening all the way through. It was a terrific murder mystery with likeable characters, antiques, golf, and an antique gun along with a mysterious group named FYSST. I loved the character of Arabella and that of Emily as well. The setting was nice. I didn't listen to book one in this series but would love to. For a good book to curl up and listen to this one is it. Recommended.

Kelli Lindsay did an outstanding job narrating this book. Her performance was flawless. She had great voice inflections and was overall nice to listen to. This was a great pairing with author and reader.
