About this listen

Charlotte Rose Hill has been serving up country delicacies, uniquely blended teas, and matchmaking advice for her quirky but beloved customers for more than 10 years. But for her, marriage seems like an elusive butterfly, always out of reach. At 18 Charlotte fell in love with a young man, Sam Wilder, but his family convinced her to walk away from their relationship. She did and then became engaged to another man, who later died before they were married. Now, more than a decade later, Charlotte finds that she still has feelings for her first love. Initially thrilled to learn that Sam has come home to Middlebury, Texas, Charlotte is devastated to learn that he’s brought someone with him: his fiancée. But all is not lost when the townsfolk decide to get involved. Will Charlotte and Sam find their way back to each other?

This was a pleasant story. A romance and very predictable but ok to listen too and had some positive points.

good listen

it is good, a little slow. but it was missing something that would have made it 5 stars. I am not sure what it just fell a little short.

Something is off

The story was interesting but kept you in suspense as to what the final outcome would be! It held my interest the entire book!!!

I love this book!

I agree with another reviewer; it is unbelievable that the characters were supposed to be in their 30’s. I don’t know if it was the out dated prose or the “old” voices that were used to narrate, but something was definitely off. I felt like I was in a time warp that took me to a land where everyone was 60+ but posing as people in their 30’s. Very odd. The “tea” cottage and antique shop venue were cutesy but that just added to the “old” feeling. It would have been more believable if this had been written to take place in a retirement community with the main characters connecting in their twilight years.

Thirty-seven year olds? No way.

I had to push myself, beyond the 1st chapter, to continue listening. The story was great but the reader wasn't a good fit. It was difficult to envision the main characters as modern day sourherners in their 30's.

Great story but hard to listen

Almost stopped this at the beginning because of the narration. I sped it up a bit and that made it sound better. There were no surprises. Although the characters were likeable, none stood out. There were other characters who were brought to light who had nothing to do with the story.

Predictable

I almost didn’t give this book a thorough chance due to the slow drone of the narrator. However, on 1.2 the book reveals a delightful pace, a sentimental and sweet story, and an uplifting Christian inspiration. This is a cozy Christian romance- a simple enough story that turns out exactly as you predict and hope. It’s a tender story with poignant reminders of how God wants us to live our lives, even in the presence of taboo topics like bigotry, betrayal, and disappointment. If only life only worked out so neatly! This was a sweet listen that will keep your mood light and your heart engaged.

Listen at 1.2 = perfect

These are the best scenarios. I didn’t know the author and took a chance. Christ centered and witty writing. I highly recommend it!

Simply fantastic!

Nice story, but the narrator almost ruined it for me. I stuck with it to the end, but it was difficult.

Narrator botch
