Publisher's summary

When a series of child abductions terrorizes the suburban communities of south St. Louis, Tom Russell of the FBI is called in to assist local law enforcement in the media-charged investigation. Things abruptly change course when the prime suspect in the case is found brutally murdered. The ritualistic nature of the kill and two similar unsolved murders earlier that year mark the emergence of a methodical serial killer known as SRK. Then almost as suddenly as the crimes had begun, they inexplicably stop, and the case goes cold for more than a year. Tom figures the killer was done with his business or just got good at hiding the bodies.

Not anymore.

There’s a fresh trail of death, and the details of the new murders are keeping Tom awake at night thinking about his three young children. He begins to wonder if maybe the killer is doing the world a big favor.

SRK is hunting child predators.

Enjoyed it

This book took a little bit for me to get into. I don’t know if it was the story, the near ration or combination of both but it just could not hold my interest. After about 30 minutes, I couldn’t put it down. I wanted to listen to it day and night. I’m glad I stuck it out when I thought about stopping it. There is light romance, humor, heartache and a lot of suspense.

Very well written story!!

i am not the best at writing reviews. So know this must have been good for me to even try.
From the very start, I was pulled into the story. I like a good mystery and a writer has to keep me in the middle of the story for me to continue. Mr. Stockdale did just that.
The narrator had a very good voice for this book.
I would like to see more from both the author and the narrator.

Evil

A Pane of Glass is a well-written book. A vigilante serial killer is targeting child predators and torturing the predator the same way he tortured the child. FBI agent Tom Russell and his partner Kate Morrow are a great team and work together to figure out who the Short Rose Killer is. The author creates scenes and descriptions that are so vivid and seem so real. A heart breaking story. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

VERY VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

This debut novel is wonderfully written, I think this author reminds me of Joseph T. Klempner. First a little background to previous crimes is given and once the main story gets going this novel takes off and never lets up. The tension ramps and honesty I was cheering for the antihero. The story evokes many conflicting emotions and left me thinking about it even when I was finished listening.
The antagonist (Brian Rhodes) is more like a protagonist. His six year old daughter is abducted and murdered. Shortly after his wife is diagnosed with cancer. Her final request is for him to kill their daughter’s killer.
Now a father with only painful memories becomes a serial killer of child predators.
This author has a masterful way with words. When I listened to Brian Rhodes thoughts of his wife and daughter I actually got choked up. The man’s pain and loss is palpable and heartbreaking.
Alan Philip Ormond does a brilliant job narrating.
This book has my VERY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

Update: December 29, 2022.
I recently spoke/emailed the author of this book, A Pane of Glass and was pleasantly surprised when he wrote me back. Of all of the books in my personal library which consists of approximately 4,000 books this one is probably in my top 10! It is that good. He told me that he’s working on a second book, The Room Below. I for one would love to see this author’s books become top sellers. He gave me a glimpse into his next novel and it is going to be breathtaking. If you want to hear it you should check out Ormond’s page (https://www.ormondaudiobooks.com/) and look under psycho/thriller to play the first chapter.
Please support this author’s work so he can continue to write full time and bring his readers many more hours of phenomenal entertainment!!!!

Get ready to binge!

This audiobook pulls you right in from the beginning and only gets more interesting from there. The narrator separates each character to send your mind into a virtual reality where you will be moved to take sides with a serial killer. It’s creepy, dark, angering, intriguing, and even has a touch of romance! These hours will fly by and you will wish there were a few more. A must buy!

WOW, you HAVE to read this!!!!!

Tom at the FBI is hunting a brutal serial killer. The serial killer targets child predators and does unto them as they did to others.

This was one of the best books i have listened to this year! It was well paced, intriguing, thrilling, interesting, cleverly built up and ultimately a masterpiece! The characters were brilliantly developed and the story held my interest throughout. I couldnt stop thinking about it even after i finished it! I love how the perspectives of both the 'good' guys and 'bad' guy are portrayed and it really makes you question whose side you are on. I absolutely loved it!

The narration was definitely one of the best performances i have heard in a while. He had excellent intonation, energy and made the story feel so real i was playing the story out in my mind and made me feel even more protective of my children.

Overall, i absolutely recommend this book to everyone! It is amazing and epic and i would love to hear more from both the author and narrator! The book is very deep and hectic and i feel like it even impacted my life. Thank you for such an awesome and entertaining experience!

Serial Killer/Vigilante Thriller

I have to say I enjoyed listening to this book it was disturbing of who I was routing for the FBI, Tom Russel and Kate Morrow or the vigilante known as SRK (short rose killer). It was brutal suspenseful thriller with decent and appropriate narration, what would you do if your child is tortured and killed? Look forward to more of his books. FBI vs. Vigilante Serial Killer!

Someone called SRK is methodically killing child predators in the same way the predators killed children. FBI agents Tom Russell and Kate Morrow are on the case. It's virtually impossible not to hope the FBI is unsuccessful. A PANE OF GLASS is a superbly written and narrated suspense thriller. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

this is one FBI thriller that is a MUST read!!

Not many books can have you cheering for the killer as this one has done! It is well written and the narrator keeps you on the edge of your seat!
FBI Special Agent in Charge (SAC), Tom Russell, has been chasing a particular serial killer for a few years, and it appears that the killer has struck again. An inmate who has just been released from prison is shot at the prison gates...why is this connected to the serial? Well, this inmate is a child predator...and this serial only pursues child predators.
We are then introduced to the serial killer's POV and learn the reason that he is targeting child predators...this is when we begin to cheer for the serial.
The story certainly elicits a variety of emotions and the ending will leave you drained. Excellent book and narration! I look forward to more from this new-to-me author and narrator.
I voluntarily accepted a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest review.
