About this listen

How does an innocent lady find herself forced to wed a royal spy who seduced her – by mistake? For Lady Rebecca Marshall, a whirlwind of passion and excitement begins when, to her mother’s great delight, she becomes a maid of honor at the court of Queen Victoria. Rebecca’s mother sees this appointment as a golden opportunity for Rebecca to make a good match.

At court, Rebecca innocently steps into the rivalry between the queen’s spymaster and the noblewoman in charge of the maids of honor who is using the maids to spy on powerful courtiers. Soon Rebecca is entangled in a web of deceit with the charming marquis Rupert St. John. The devastatingly handsome n’er-do-well is the cousin of Raphael Locke, with whom Rebecca was once infatuated. What she doesn’t know is that Rupert is a secret agent of the crown who leads a double life.

When Rupert obtains proof that Rebecca is spying on him, he seduces her. He hardly suspects her guileless nature. Forced to the altar, Rupert believes that Rebecca has set a trap of the worst sort in order to marry into his powerful family. Although he vows never to be faithful to his beautiful wife, as Rupert comes to know Rebecca’s wit, adventurous spirit, and generous nature, his vow of revenge turns into a desire to share many passionate nights only with his wife for the rest of his life.

Warm, witty, and filled with the “deliciously sexy” (Booklist) flirtation that makes each of her bestsellers an irresistible gem, A Rogue of My Own will have listeners falling in love with Johanna Lindsey all over again!

TRULY ENJOYABLE

I truly enjoyed this audible, even though it was abridged, i felt the story included enough to keep it flowing, interesting and fun. Light and enjoyable. Narrator was great too.

Great narrator.

I didn’t care for the story. I thought it was boring and didn’t think the characters were developed enough.

Intrigue at Queen Victoria's Court

This is an older book, but a good one. The charming and devastatingly handsome Marquis, Rupert St. John, is a spymaster for Queen Victoria. He leads a double life and trusts no-one.

Lady Rebecca Marshall is the newest maid of honor in the Queen's court and is sent to Rupert's superior's room by the noblewoman in charge of the maids of honor to look for letters or anything incriminating. Believing she is ultimately doing it for the Queen, Rebecca does her bidding, and gets caught by Rupert St. Johns. St. John is aware the noblewoman is using the maids to spy on powerful courtiers for nefarious reasons of her own, and believes Rebecca is a willing participant.

After Rebecca learns more about the noblewoman she questions the Lady's actions, and tells her she will not do it again. But having caught her once, Rupert does not believe anything Rebecca says, and when she goes to his room to warn him, he seduces her. Although Rebecca was an innocent Rupert remains hard-hearted and attributes wrong motives for her being there.

Johanna Lindsey is a very talented author, and Rosalyn Landor a great performer. The length of the book is just right for an evenings entertainment.

Great book, be sure you're getting the entire book

I've read this book many times. I actually mistakenly ordered the short version. I already have the full version. It was my mistake but you have to be careful and make sure you get the entire book. The short version is not a $17.00 book. I love Johanna Lindsey she's an amazing author. Any book by her will be Great.

could totally tell it was the abridged version!

Narration was good, storyline good- typical for the author- but it definitely seemed like pieces were cut out. More difficult to identify with the characters.
