About this listen

Alone! Kitty Donaldson’s marred face keeps her isolated from others. When offered the opportunity to be a mail-order bride to a stranger who refuses to leave his home, Kitty gladly accepts. After all, she’s always lived without friends.

Kit Randolph has been hideously scarred in a mysterious fire. Did someone purposefully burn down his home? His cousin Phineas suspects someone near to Kit is a murderer. How can he prove it?

Married to a man in a mask, Kitty begins to wonder about her husband. Who or what lies under the hood he wears? Why is she constantly shadowed by a companion? Worse yet, why is she equally drawn to her scarred husband and his handsome cousin.

What will Kitty find when her husband’s mask is removed? With a murderer on the loose, will she live to find out?

Very good

This was a very good book. It was very well written by Marisa Masterson. A story of a woman with a birthmark that had been looked on as disgusting threw out her life can find love.

Hidden Love

What a delightful story. Narrator was wonderful. Kitty doesn't know what she will do, since her father's death. Her attorney suggests she become a mail order bride. She is upset, no one will want her with the birthmark on her face. Kit has been in hiding, ever since he was burned. He needs a bride to help him, so he sends a request to the matchmaker. How is it possible, that when Kitty and Kit both need someone, they are matched. So their life begins, but it is strange and a mystery to be solved.

Christmas mail order bride

This was a wonderful story. I love the way this story has a little mystery mixed with romance and set at Christmas time. I was so glad that Kitty was able to become a mail order bride and take the chance at finding a husband. When she meets her husband he has his face covered and refuses to let him see his awful face but she shows him her face anyways just to make sure he will accept her with the way her face is. When she meets his cousin she thinks him to be very familiar but can't figure out why. Definitely worth a listen and the narrator does a nice job.

A Shadowed Groom for Christmas

She just lost her father and is now alone. Her father's lawyer suggests she become a mail order bride. He is disfigured from a fire, and believes someone is still after him. Can they find love? Good clean romance. Narrator has a sweet soft spoken voice.

Great on audio

I loved the narrator of this book. I previously read this book on ebook. I had the chance to listen to this book and jumped at the chance. The soothing voice of the narrator brought to life the story of this book.

Unique Sweet Romance

I found this story to be quite unique. The bride and groom have basically hidden themselves away from other people due to their faces being marred. Plenty of twists to keep you guessing and a good reminder of how we need to be more concerned with a person's character and less concerned with outward appearances.

A bit of intrigue

I was a bit surprised by this book. I was expecting a run of the mill mail order bride book. I was not expecting a bit of a mystery. It was a fun story that kept me listening. It was short and sweet.

Fabulous

Absolutely fantastic! Loved the elements of romance, mystery, and intrigue. My only complaint is that it was too short.

Delightful

This book was so, so good. Seems in our society even today the truly "beautiful" people are shoved to the back while those who only appear beautiful on the outside are pushed to the front. This was such a sweet story of love that goes beyond the outward and gives us God's view of beauty. (1 Samuel 16:7) Phineas and Kitty provide a good example of a couple of things: 1. Phineas saw the beauty in Kitty and, 2. Kitty learned to accept herself as God created her. I loved it when Phineas told Kitty that the mark on her face looked like a rose to him. How sweet and romantic.

The story is also about solving a mystery. The reader can probably ascertain the mysterious parts of the story almost from the beginning. However, Mary cannot and the reader can't be sure until later. It's all very intriguing and well written. I had a hard time putting this audiobook aside. It took me only one day to finish it!

I could really identify with Kitty and Kit. I grew up with a birth defect that left one leg with a mottled red pattern. I always tried to hide it, and hated it when people would ask if I had burned it, or what was the matter with my leg. I'm sure most of them did not mean to be hurtful, but it was. I liked the spiritual challenge to myself. Recently I read a definition of wisdom that would apply here. Wisdom is seeing things from God's perspective. With the help of the Holy Spirit, I am learning to stop and think about that in all situations!

The narration by Ms. Richard was beautiful. Narration can make or break an audio book and she was wonderful. I will be watching for her name!
