About this listen

Ever since she discovered her ex-husband's affair, Dana Sue Sullivan decided to put down new roots and create the best restaurant in Serenity, South Carolina. After years of hard labor, her dream has become a reality. Sullivan's provides more than just Southern comfort food - it's become a haven for the whole town - and Dana Sue knows better than anyone that relying on friendship can get you through the toughest times.

But when her teenage daughter Annie develops an eating disorder that lands her in the hospital, Dana Sue's perfect life comes crumbling down. On top of it all, her own health starts to deteriorate. Dana Sue knows she needs to change habits now to help them both get better - even if that means letting Ronnie Sullivan back into their lives.

And who knows, his return might end up being a recipe for a new beginning....

Narration is underwhelming. Over pronunciation is painful to listen too.

I enjoy the light story line of the three best friends. And I’ll continue to move through this book series.

However, the narration of this book is just awful! Whoever cast this actor may have missed the mark. The narrator reads as if she’s a high school drama actor auditioning for an evening news anchor position. I’m not usually one to critique so harshly, but with the attention this book series is gaining due to the Netflix series, the publishers should SERIOUSLY reconsider another recording of this one. It’s just hard to listen too, I’m constantly “hearing her voice” instead of enjoying the storytelling.

It was okay

The book was great but it took a while to get used to the narrator's voice.

great story, didn't care for the narrators voice.

the narrators voice was so annoying as she tried to use a male tone. I much preferred the first book in this series. I'm hoping the 3rd book has a different narrator.

A Slice of Heaven

I enjoyed the first book in this series, the narration and the characters were much better. I did not enjoy the narration in this book. Very stiff and precise, definitely was not Southern in the the least bit. The narration of the men’s parts was way off! This is what I would call a story that just passed the time for me while I was driving.

awful narration

The book audio is bad but I tried my best to slow it down but it was still awful. First too fast and when I attempted to slow it down it just sounded weird kinda robotic. I ended up just buying the physical book because I am determined to finish the series. unfortunate because the first book narrating was so good. I pray it's not the same with the rest of the series as thus really takes away from the actual book

not as good as the first

it was ok. I like that you get to know the characters and become 8nvested in their story. There were quite a few cheesy moments in there though. would have liked to have seen more work put into Dana sue and Ronnie's relationship though. this was too easy to be believed.

Great story, horrible narration.

I had to slow the speed down to be able to tolerate listening to this one. The fact that she mispronounced SC towns repeatedly was nerve racking. I did love the story line.

Great story, but…..

I just found this series and was hooked after Book 1. However, I can barely get through Book 2 due to the narrator. I will finish it because I want to know the outcome. However, if Book 3 is narrated by this same narrator I will not waste a credit on it.

Not as good as the first

Forced my way through this one but definitely didn't enjoy it. The narrator was terrible and the story could have been told in A quarter of the time. won't continue this series.
