About this listen
A body is never good for a room’s feng shui …The McKays' tumultuous divorce played out in the unforgiving public eye, mirroring Sheriff Mark McKay's humiliating defeat in the recent election. Just as it seems everyone is ready to move on, Mark is discovered lifeless, right in the middle of one of his ex-wife Courtney’s meticulously staged houses.
The talented interior decorator finds herself at the epicenter of the accusations. Despite the town's speculative murmurs, Hadley and her friends are unwavering in their belief of her innocence. In a case where appearances can be deceiving, it will require a discerning eye and unwavering determination to unearth the truth. The puzzle surrounding Mark's demise becomes a complex tapestry of secrets. Hadley and the gang are determined to see justice prevail, confident that the interior decorator they've embraced as a member of their community is far from a killer.

Story
After the killing of a prominent mob lawyer, NYPD homicide detectives Jacob Jackson and Caitlin Grimes start receive chilling, written “rules” for how to commit the perfect murder. "Rule number one for the perfect murder: Evidence is your enemy. Leave none behind." Jackson (Reid Scott) and Grimes (Cobie Smulders) race to find the killer, setting them on a collision course with the city’s crime underbelly, and a perpetrator who seems happy to toy with them. “Rule number two. No crimes of passion. The perfect murder is always business, never pleasure.”

Story
Guy Montag is a fireman. In his world, where television rules and literature is on the brink of extinction, firemen start fires rather than put them out. His job is to destroy the most illegal of commodities, the printed book, along with the houses in which they are hidden. Montag never questions the destruction and ruin his actions produce, returning each day to his bland life and wife, Mildred, who spends all day with her television "family."

Delightful Read
There's a new sheriff in town. I always wanted to lead with that, but in this case it is true. Unfortunately, the old sheriff has been murdered, and the new sheriff must recuse himself from the investigation. So, Paul could really use assistance from Hadley and the gang on this investigation, and even though she has a lot on her plate including planning her own wedding, since when has Hadley every backed away from an investigation?
It was great to be back in Stoneybrook. The town is inviting, and the characters are genuinely likeable. I would love to taste some of Hadley's jams at Pretty Jam Good, pick up a painting by Suze, and attend the Saturday farmers' market, maybe meet up with Hadley, Luke, Suze, and Paul at Seven Stones for some of Benny's soup.
Being likable does not render these characters stupid. They are both intelligent and witty, and the mystery is complex enough to keep the reader guessing. I did have a good idea of the who and how later in the book, but I did not have the why until it was revealed.
This book passed "the test." Specifically, I hated to see it end and really wish the next book in the series was available now.

Great foxy mystery
Great cozy mystery. Both the author and the narrator kept me invested from the first chapter. With a number of twists and turns and a result I didn’t see coming, I was hooked. Cannot wait to read and or listen to more from this author.

Additional Characters to Love
I have followed this series since almost the beginning and I am always so excited when the new one comes out. I love all the characters of this community and enjoy watching them grow. This one gave us hope that maybe we will have some new friends that will continue to be around in the future. My only two complaints are 1) The story needs to be longer so I can enjoy being in the world longer. 2) I have to wait for the next one. LOL - So, neither are really bad complaints.
