Very little is merry in a private dick’s world.
Private detective Nick Bozic works the mean streets of 1950s Portland, Oregon, shadowing unfaithful spouses and nabbing thieving employees. He may be lonely, but at least he’s not crooked. Despite the festive season, Christmas simply means less dough in his pocket.
With the holiday only a few days away, a regular client drops a new case on him: Yet another being has come through the Rift and needs help finding his way home. Maybe Evindal the elf will help Nick find something, too - a bit of cheer and magic amid the usual brew of corruption and betrayal.

I was thoroughly entertained by "A Very Genre Christmas", Evindal's delight at everything was infections and I found myself grinning along with him.
This story has a bit of a "Torchwood" feel with the Rift sending "beings" through for Nick to help send back where they came from - As a Torchwood fan, I really hope this concept is turned into a series because it has so many possibilities.
🎧 Narrator comment: Greg Tremblay is a master performer - he captured the feel of the period, the characters and all the emotions perfectly and had me drawn into the story from the opening sentence, Nick was the perfect gruff detective who only sees the bad, Evindal was the bright spark of sunshine every Christmas Elf should be. An enjoyable performance and he's bought this story to life.
