About this listen

Rachel Holley has always dreamed of a wedding - the white dress, the fairy tale, and, of course, the happily-ever-after. But when her fiancé breaks it off the night before, claiming she doesn’t love him, Rachel’s fairy tale ends in ashes.

Homeless, hopeless, and feeling like her life has been completely derailed, Rachel must start over in all sorts of ways - and hold her head up high in the fishbowl of her tiny village. The last person she expects to become a friend is Sam West, the taciturn owner of the Bell, Thornthwaite’s rougher pub, and a little rough around the edges himself.

But as Rachel gets to know Sam, and sees him caring for his orphaned nephew, she finds herself drawn to this enigmatic man. Nothing about Sam is what Rachel expected in a life partner, and yet she can’t deny their increasing closeness. But can love flourish on the rebound? And will there be a vicarage wedding after all?

Sweet Story

I love the stories of these very different sisters who have a deep bond with each other.

Another gripping story in the series

A Vicarage Wedding starts out to seem like a surface-level story, but there are twists and turns and deep emotions that are beautifully developed in this story. I enjoyed this third book in the series and am glad there is a fourth book!

Favorite Kate Hewitt book--from a fan

My favorite Kate Hewitt book so far--from a real Kate Hewitt fan! An interesting, complex plot--not predictable. Thoughtful, reflective, yet engaging. These characters feel like family and friends.

Better than book 1 but ...

The problem I have with this series are the unlikable sisters. This story focuses on Rachael, whom, from the previous books, I thought I would like a lot. Turns out not so much. Rachael is out for herself...period. Even after she learns her lessons from the mistakes made with Ex Fiancé Dan she still makes EVERYTHING about her. Not for a moment dod I ever feel her benevolence. She only cares about things if they some how relate to her. She gives the impression that she is helping Nathan as a good Samaritan but actually it was always about getting closer to Sam. I also never felt the chemistry between these 2. Even in their kiss it felt awkward instead of swoonworthy. The back story is interesting. The village dynamics quaint and the parents lovely but Rachael is an awful petson. Regardless of her protests she is materialistic and she will eventually tire of Sam.

Well written just too depressing for me

I almost couldn’t get to the end it was focused on everything that went wrong for most the f the book. Maybe that works for some people, it just wasn’t for me.

I won’t spoil the ending. Author is good. I very much enjoyed another series by her. Just not this one book.
