Publisher's summary

A destination wedding in Italy’s Lake Como brings three best friends back together to face the secrets of the past in this romantic novel from New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Probst.

Best friends Ava, Madison, and Chelsea made a pact to reunite for each other’s weddings when their careers sent them in different directions. But after one of them makes a choice that tears the group apart, an upcoming wedding might be their last chance to heal old wounds.

Ava is about to marry the man she loves in a lavish ceremony on the shores of Lake Como, but she’s haunted by the mistakes she’s made.

Madison’s made a name for herself as an influencer in the fashion world but is threatened by a scandal impacting everything she holds dear.

And Chelsea has the perfect family she always craved, but her professional dreams have fallen by the wayside.

As they return to Italy’s gorgeous coast, the three women revisit their life-changing first trip to Lake Como during college. When Madison comes face-to-face with the college sweetheart who was at the heart of one of the most pivotal times of her life, can they forge a new way forward?

Good but not the best

I really enjoyed the book. I like her telling stories in New York and Italy about succussful people searching for somerhing more.
But honestly, it was standard of this author, I listened to her better books.

A beautiful story of love and lessons

What an amazing story! The narrators were absolutely perfect! Lessons of love and the tough choices on forgiveness. When in Italy 🥰🇮🇹

It took too long to get to the story

The book seemed to drag on. While I enjoyed it by the end I almost gave up.

Very Emotional

This is not a light-hearted book; it deals with the complications of family, friendship, love, loss of direction and betrayal. it works really hard for its satisfying ending. The one real thing that spoiled the enjoyment of the book was the narration. While overall the narrator did a great job, being fluent in Italian, according to her bio, and a celebrated actress and narrator, she nevertheless had a disconcerting pronunciation that drove me crazy. She pronounced all her "a" s like "o" s. It sounded almost Canadian, but most of the characters were native New Yorkers and it just did not fit. I did like the book.

Heartbreaking

I have loved the books I've read by Jennifer Probst in the past. This is the first book I've read/listened to in this series. I plan to listen to the other two books after researching them first. This is a great standalone as I didn't feel like I missed anything from not reading the first two books. I first read this ebook, then listened to the audiobook to see if my opinions changed. They have not.

Romance is my normal genre. I would say this is more women's fiction/chick lit rather than romance. Mostly because the girl's relationship seems like the focus. If the ending had been expanded, I might would change my opinion on this.

There were beautiful descriptions of Italy that had me spellbound. The story about friends and their very different backgrounds/lives that intrigued me. But as much as I loved it, I hated it as well. This needs to be said, because if I had known, I would not have picked up this book...there is cheating by main characters. It is not glorified or acceptable, so I kept on reading although I thought I'd be sick. There's a toxic aspect of the friendships, and with the cheating, it made this a very hard read for me. It hit so close to home. I cried and my heart pounded and squeezed with pain for the characters. I honestly didn't like how it played out and I can't say why without giving too much away. BUT I couldn’t put it down! The writing is beautiful, there's flawed characters, friendships, forgiveness... And the ending was not what I expected. I can say that I won't forget this book.

Carlotta Brentan is a new to me narrator. Her performance was excellent! I loved her voice.

The truth, reality, and life’s twists and turns…

I think I enjoyed this book of Jennifer Probst’s the most. The background of Italy is definitely my go to, but the bond of friendship and love was amazing. We never know what life is going to throw us, but we have choices to better ourselves, grow, and move on. I couldn’t wait to be able to listen to the book. I stayed up late, rode in the car, or hooped my embroidery scrubs just so I could listen to the story. I don’t think this story disappoints in any way. It brings alive the youth of all of us and the pains of growth in making our dreams a part of life. Don’t miss it! And if you love Italy or are of Italian descent, it brings alive the culture we know and love.

Almost nothing about Italy

Having read the first two books in the author's Italy series, I expected more from this story. There were a couple brief visits to the country by the main characters, but Italy had very little to do with the plot. Instead, it is about three young women forming a very creepy codependent friendship, all falling into narcissistic, self-destructive behavior until the inevitable disturbing implosion. Not one of the characters was likeable, and the ending didn't do much to redeem the story.

Absolutely not.

DNF at 62% of the book. I kept waiting for the redemption on this one and after having loved the first two books in this series I was anxiously awaiting this book.
All of the characters in this book are so vapid and obnoxious that I can't even continue hate-reading this book to find out what happens to them... because I just don't care. I dislike every character so much. The only somewhat bearable ones are the boyfriends Riggs and Patrick who both get shit on by the protagonist and her toxic bitchy best friend.
I keep suffering through the narrator's awful voice and weird pronunciation of words just to find out what the conflict that caused their rift was and I finally couldn't take it anymore.
Also, 62% of the book in and only a few days of it have been set in Italy so far. The majority of this time they've been in New York or Los Angeles.
Where is the beautiful descriptive experience of a wedding in Lake Como that the title leads you to believe you'll spend the book experiencing? If I have to suffer through another minute of these dull insta-fame chasing "influencers", I can't be bothered. Don't waste your time or your money on this one.
