About this listen

Edinburgh, Scotland. March 1832. Kiera and Gage have been eagerly awaiting their bundle of joy but trouble has been brewing in the form of the roguish criminal Bonnie Brock Kincaid. A new book and subsequent play features some of Kincaid's daringly heinous exploits, although he swears he had nothing to do with it or the characters which are obvious representations of Kiera and Gage. While the scoundrel's fury seems genuine, as well as his determined quest to uncover the real identity of the author, the Gages still hold doubts about his innocence.

A rash of crimes break out across the city, seemingly inspired by the play and book. When the publisher is found brutally murdered - in an imitation of a gruesome scene - the finger not only points to Bonnie Brock as the possible culprit, but also the Gages, who have been outspoken in their condemnation of the tale. Now, the Gages are on a hunt to unmask the killer. Between the infamy garnered by the play, the cholera outbreak still wreaking havoc throughout the city, and the impending birth of their child, they will need all the resources they can garner.

Waiting for more

I love the historical information that the author uses. It is even applicable to our time. Now I'm waiting for a short story about the events that led to Brock's poisoning alluded to in the book. Trust me I have reread all the books making sure I didn't miss it. I'm truly enjoying this series and can't wait for the next one to come out.

Kiera … a positive female

I love the strong yet feminine way Kiera is portrayed. She does not try to me a man or act like one but holds herself to the standard of being a women but not constraint society places on women.

Sad that this is the last book for now.

I absolutely love this series and think, wouldn’t it be great if there were like 50 more books in this series? Lol! When I first started listening to the Lady Darby series, I loved it right away. I just fell in love with all of the characters and I love the way that Heather Wilds sounds like the perfect voice for the introverted weird little (but lovable) Kiera. Whom I suspect is a lot like her listeners. I sincerely hope that Anna Lee Huber doesn’t give this series up anytime soon. I am also hoping that she never puts Geige in a political arena. Also, I would like to hear a little more about Bonnie Brock Kincaid. I mean, you gotta love the guy. I also have to say that it would be nice to have a husband like Sebastian, but that’s fiction for you.

Intrigue

Though I carried butterflies throughout book 8 feeling Kiera's unease, fear and uncommon embarrassment; just as intriguing was the subplots of Kiera & Lorna, Kiera & BB and Kiera & Gage... and I could literally SEE the Vault capture scene as I listened. I was there! Thank you BOTH, Author and Reader.

Great series!

I love this series and can’t wait for the next book. Although I kinda hate how often the writer says “lapis lazuli”. Surely we can find another word to describe eye color. Anyway, I also came across some skipped words in the recording. Not sure if that was on my end or not but I missed small parts of conversation. Overall a good addition to the series.

Fantastic

Finally the both of of their child is near but that does not stop this duo

A book is published and plays begin about the life of the infamous Bonnie Brock and rumors abound about him and Keira

But murder and mayhem prevail as a search for a killer hears up and danger is not but a breath away!

I am so sad because have to wait for more to come in this series! I can only urge the author to please write faster! Perfect narration as always!

I just can’t get enough. Beautifully written, amazing characters and character development, twists and turns, and a good dose of history throne in. Loved it!

A Bit Slow At First

I enjoyed this book on the series as I have all the others. I am glad that the baby was finally born! While it took a while to get going, it was still a very enjoyable listen!

Great continuation of series

I've enjoyed the previous books in this series and have listened to them all multiple times. I love Anna Lee Huber's books because they are an escape. There are problems for the characters to overcome, but there is always a sense of support and friendship. The language is clean and it's a nice sit back and enjoy the ride kind of book for me. This flowed similarly to the other books. I love to watch the progression of secondary characters throughout the series. Heather Wilds is Kiera to me now and she did a great job with this latest book. I can't wait for the next one!

Lady Darby doesn't always have to be in harms way

I loved it, I love the Lady Darby books, but the lady chapter appeared to be added on so Lady Darby and Gage could be kidnapped, stupid.
