About this listen
Despite being all alone - the only one of his kind - Bast Banbeck has generously helped humanity time and again against the death machines, saving us from extinction. Years ago, Jon Hawkins promised Bast that he would hunt for and save the Sacerdotes in return.
But the homesick Bast is losing hope, drowning his sorrows in extended drinking bouts. Now, Intelligence learns there are Sacerdote prisoners 162 light-years away.
Jon leads the rescue operation, using the void to slip undetected into enemy territory.
But this is an AI trap to capture and study Hawkins - the puny creature that has done more harm to the great AI Dominion than any other parasitical life form.
What no one knows is that Hawkins’ passage through the void has awakened an ancient evil, and it’s eager to reenter time and space.
The battle for life has just become more intense.
A.I. Rescue is the seventh book in the series chronicling humanity’s grim war for survival against the galactic machine juggernaut.
The series starts with book one A.I. Destroyer.

Story
After endless years of fighting in a galaxy-wide war, the most decorated super-soldier of the Old Federation was granted leave, sliding into a stasis tube aboard a sleeper ship. The ship never reached its port, and the soldier woke up a thousand years later on an operating table. The Old Federation was gone, most planets hurled back into the Stone Age. A devastated Earth used spies instead of spaceships to compete against the tougher, richer worlds.

Story
In the 20th century Earth sent probes, transmissions, and welcoming messages to the stars. Unfortunately, someone noticed. The Galactics arrived with their battle fleet in 2052. Rather than being exterminated under a barrage of hell-burners, Earth joined their vast Empire. Swearing allegiance to our distant alien overlords wasn't the only requirement for survival. We also had to have something of value to trade, something that neighboring planets would pay their hard-earned credits to buy. As most of the local worlds were too civilized to have a proper army, the only valuable service Earth could provide came in the form of soldiers....

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Doctor Benjamin Schröder was far from a man of action. In fact, he was a history teacher - chairman of the Castle Rock University history department - and if his life wasn't perfect, it was close. Until, that is the discussion of his star student Elzbietá Abramowski's dissertation on Operation Oz, the Pacific Allies' invasion of Vladivostok, was brutally interrupted. The psychotic episode that turned his entire world upside down struck with absolutely no warning, and it was more terrifying than anything he should have been able to imagine.

Story
As a sci-fi author with a hit TV show, I have a few ideas about what alien invaders are supposed to look like. In my stories, they’re technologically advanced monsters, with tentacles, and no faces. Turns out I was right about the technology. And about how angry they’d be. But the way they look…that’s more terrifying than even I could have imagined. They look exactly like us. Because they are us.

entertaining
some of the characters seemed unexpectedly whiney which didn't exactly fit with the characters history. the predictability of mind control causing a problem was a repeated theme from multiple other books in the series. Still entertaining though.

A different narrator changes the characters a little
The narrator of this book is different than the previous books. Issues of voices is slightly different for the characters, which changes the strength in the characters, voice in demeanor.

Fun and entertaining but nothing great.
It is fun and some parts are predictable. I did enjoy it but it is not a great story by any stretch. The narrator is fine as well.

new narrator
Enjoying the storyline very much was quite disappointed to find that narrator has changed . While he does a good enough job it takes a lot of getting used to when he changes the characters voices and ways that they speak compared to the previous 4 books

Great story, great series
I really enjoyed the audiobook, but the narration is very poor compared to the rest of the series. Not sure what the narrator was thinking making a character who was supposed to be a former gang enforcer and cage fighter into one of the most whiny babies in the history of audiobooks. The voice of Bast now seems to be a sort of Arnold Schwarzenegger knock off. Very poor narration almost ruined a great book. I hope they go back to the narrator who did the rest of the books, the new guy is just not as good.

Fantasy
The description of this story does not suggest it is fantasy, however any “tech” in the story has only vague superficial references.
The story is all about destructive and constructive personalities battling with undefined esp related energies.

The book presented humans doing human things.
The narrators change in voice is a bit of a struggle between audiobooks. The beginning had characters do things that did not match them up until that point. I guess that is need for the entertainment value.
