About this listen

Born in the flames of Heaven's wrath, he's all things sinful and too dangerous to love.

An immortal Guardian, Aethan has walked alone for millennia, trapped in a hell of his own. Until a feisty mortal crosses his path. A female he shouldn't even look at, one who shakes the precarious foundations of all that he is, and one who's determined to walk the edge of danger.

All her life, Echo Carter wanted "normal", an impossible feat given that she can see demons. Drawn back to the alleys of New York, she's determined to hunt down the one responsible for the death of her friend. And no man, no matter how sexy, will stop her. Until she discovers a horrifying truth about herself, forcing her to turn to the one man she should avoid. Aethan.

But when two stubborn wills collide, a dangerous passion ignites....

As evil closes in, Aethan has to overcome his darkest fears and claim Echo as his. If he doesn't, he just could lose her to a far more sinister fate....

This is a re-edited version with an added epilogue.

Reader sounds like she's whispering

Reader sounds like she's whispering the entire time. Story was alright. A little cheesy sometimes, but I knew what I was getting into with a book like this.

terrible performance by narrator

I couldn't enjoy listening to it. The narrator spoke in hushed tones, whispering throughout. She also usually spoke in a monotone.
There was rarely any pitch or cadence changes or adjustments in her speech, no raising of a character's voice when called for. On top of that, she spoke the character's names phonetically, instead of, as instructed in the beginning pages of the written book. I read most of this story on my Kindle instead.

4 stars ✨

Great narrator and engaging plot. Lots of push and pull. Many interesting characters. Kinda wish there had been more insight into the couples actual time as a couple.

Wish I hadn't wasted a credit

I'm 3 hours before the end of this book, and won't be bothering to finish. The story has been dragging and dragging on and on for hours. It's been a struggle just to get this far. The only thing that really kept me hanging on was that I used a credit for this. I find myself completely unable to connect with the heroine at all, or really care about what she's going through. She's not very likable, or relatable. I also really hate these "just add water" romances. There seems to be no connection between the 2 main characters whatsoever, besides the fact that the author told them they're gonna end up together. The narrator was not terrible, but the pronunciation of several proper nouns was just hard on the ear. That's not to say that I think she's pronouncing them incorrectly, just that the author made some very poor choices. Felt myself cringing every time she said the name Aethan. It just never flowed!
