Story
In Earth's distant future, Tyndel is both teacher and mentor, a staunch devotee to his conservative and rigidly structured religious culture. Then a rogue infection of nanotechnology transforms him into a "demon", something more than human, and he is forced into exile, fleeing to the more technologically advanced space-faring civilization that lies to the north, one that his own righteous people consider evil. Although shaken by his transformation, he has the rare talent required to become a space pilot.

Story
In the far future among the colonized worlds of the galaxy, there's a war going on between the majority of civilized worlds and a colonial theocracy. Trystin Desoll grows up fighting against religious fanatics and becomes a hero, a first-class pilot, then, amazingly, a spy. What do you do if you're a relatively humane soldier fighting millions of suicidal volunteers on the other side who know that they are utterly right, and you are utterly wrong, with no middle ground? Trystin Desoll has an idea.

Scientists from three different civilizations, separated in time by hundreds of thousands of years, are investigating the canal. Millennia ago, a magical disaster caused the fall of a great worldwide civilization, the end of a golden age. New civilizations have fought their way up from the ancient destruction and chaos, knowing little of the lost world that preceded them or the details of its fall.C orus today is a world of contending countries, of humans, but also of strange animals and supernatural creatures. It is a place of magical powers and of a few people who are talented enough to use them. Alusius, the hero of the story, is one.

Incredible plot unraveling
This story started very slowly and it was unclear where it was going. At least one early chapter had a poem-like sound to it. However, I am very glad that I stayed with this story. It is a better than average comment on human condition. And, the story was told with virtually no swearing and no sex. I highly recommend it!!

Interesting take on philosophical SF
It’s different than most military SF, and takes some careful listening to grasp the philosophies of government & ecology. Different is good, if one is open to it. Has some elements to successful classic thoughtful science fiction literature. Review by Rick, April 27, 2024

Adiamante is a very fascinating story.
Wow. Ten thousand years after a lot of great technology to be developed and misused to cause a catastrophic war to make a great split of mankind. Now the “evicted” instigators descendants return to right the wrong forced on their ancestors. How this author thought that of not only changes in technology that would occur but how the language and words would change is clever. At first I was a little frustrated in understanding what was being said but after a bit it started to sink in. I was “trying to listen” unlike the Marsibs. The word changes were pretty cool unlike the changes used by Jar-Jar Binks in Star Wars. The government that developed on Old Earth is very interesting. The rules of the Construct seamed tough but it strove to keep society humming with regular people and those of enhanced abilities living together in harmony. Very neat.

Unsatisfying and massive plot holes galore
If you think trans-human hippies would be a cool thing get this book. Otherwise you should give it a pass. A hard pass.
