About this listen

Major spoilers below if you have not listened to book one, The Umbra King.

Erdikoa

After being released from the prison realm four hundred and ninety-nine years early, Rory finds herself in Erdikoa with no memory of the last three months and orders to keep her release a secret. Feeling like an outsider looking in, she tries to acclimate to her new life, but she can't shake the feeling that something, or someone, is missing.

She begins to question her reality when her sister's killer plagues her dreams, insisting he's innocent. But she knows what she saw all those years ago, and she's faced with a choice: avenge her sister, potentially destroying her life again, or let go of revenge to embrace the second chance she's been given.

Will she be able to retrieve her memories to help her decide, or will she stay in the dark forever, dreaming of a man she should hate?

Vincula

With a haunting prophecy hanging over his head, Caius races against time to break the magic barrier trapping him in his own realm. With the help of unlikely allies, they discover a solution, giving Caius hope for the first time since Rory's departure, but it comes at a steep price.

The evil they face cannot be underestimated, and the evil within may become necessary. For her, he will become the monster everyone believes him to be.

Aeternum is book two in the Vincula Realm duology and must be listened to after The Umbra King. It is filled with mystery, romance, a guaranteed HEA for our main couple, and twists to keep you guessing until the very end. Intended for mature listeners.

Book 2 was slow but worth the ending

No spoilers. Loved book 1, but book 2 was boring the first half ( that’s generous really 3/4) Loved the ending and would read a book 3 if that happens. Narration was on point!

Great duet

I really enjoyed these books..the second is my favorite. Narration was really good. I just wished it was a duel narration. Looking forward to Sam’s book!

It was cute.

It was fantasy, had some romance and action, but it wasn’t quite my dream formula. I could have used a lot more action and less fluff, but I enjoyed it regardless.

Pretty good but 1st book is incomparably superior

Storyline is okay but the first book was definitely a much better read/listen. The author is still a great writer and one of my favorites. She has a way of making the FMCs a lot less annoying for characters so young. I usually end up wanting to throttle these dark romantacy FMCs

Top fave

Easy listen with great characters and plots. The “touch her and die” romance is 5 star. And I loved that the world building was there, but not so detailed like some of these books lately that you have to re read every word and do a google to follow everything.

Loved how this all ended!!!

The story finished nicely except of course with Sam leaving which was sad. Thought maybe the big fight with Gideon was a bit underwhelming, but all in all I liked the story. Once again though I did not like the way the female narrator did the males voices. They were just over exaggerated and sounded horrible. Her part as Rory was fine though. A good finish to a good duology.

My new obsession

Vincula Realm has literally become my new personality. I’ve been hooked since the first chapter of Umbra King and Aeternum didn’t disappoint! If only Nikki could have narrated this entire series. She’s great with both the female and male dialogue. Gideon drives me crazyyyyy the way he takes away all the strong characteristics developed with every female character by making them all sound like a whiny Tina from Bob's Burgers. It's really hard to ignore and changes the dynamic of the story. I find myself having to focus on how I imagine the characters sounding in order to stay immersed in the story.

Fabulous

I love this book series so much! The characters are so dynamic and the presentation was outstanding! I tried to listen to it slowly over time because I knew I would be sad when it ended! A+++++
