About this listen

Every harvest moon, the Witch Collector rides into our valley and leads one of us to the home of the immortal Frost King, to remain forever.

Today is that day—Collecting Day.

But he will not come for me. I, Raina Bloodgood, have lived in this village for twenty-four years, and for all that time he has passed me by.

His mistake.

Raina Bloodgood has one desire: kill the Frost King and the Witch Collector who stole her sister. On Collecting Day, she means to exact murderous revenge, but a more sinister threat sets fire to her world. Rising from the ashes is the Collector, Alexus Thibault, the man she vowed to slay and the only person who can help save her sister.

Thrust into an age-old story of ice, fire, and ancient gods, Raina must abandon vengeance and aid the Witch Collector or let their empire—and her sister—fall into enemy hands. But the lines between good and evil blur, and Raina has more to lose than she imagined. What is she to do when the Witch Collector is no longer the villain who stole her sister, but the hero who's stealing her heart?

Boring story, good narration

Overall just blah. The story needing more world building. Felt rushed and just borrrringggg over all. Like the whole story they were stuck in the woods? Something else needed to happen. Pretty predictable, no great twist. Had potential just missed the mark. Narrators were great though.

Worth the wait!

I read The Witch Collector at the beginning of 2022 but wanted to refresh my memory before I carried on with the series. The narrators nailed the banter between Alexus and Raina.

The Witch Collector

This book was fantastic, incredibly imaginative, and had a great storyline. The hopelessness that the characters felt in the beginning and the growth and courage they show at the end was magic to see as the story unfolded. Can't wait to start the next book!

I am enthralled with this world

I can't say enough good things about this series and The Witch Collector audio. Listening to the audio, on second read, brought the characters to life, and I fell in love with them and the story all over. I cannot wait for the 4th book and future audio.

An Okay Start

This is my second time reading this book. I wanted to start book two but feel like I forgot what happened in book one, and now I’m remembering that it wasn’t a whole lot lol. This book was very slow, and the only reason I’m wanting to continue onto book two is because I’ve heard it gets much better. I decided to listen to the audiobook for my reread, and while the narration was okay, I couldn’t stand when the female narrator would do Alexis’s voice. She spoke way too low/quiet compared to how she voiced everyone else and I had to keep adjusting my volume which was kind of annoying. I’m not sure how much more difficult it is to record, but I wish that books that have two narrators would just do a duet narration, it would be much more enjoyable. I purchased the audio for book two, but I’m not sure if I’ll listen to it or just read it myself.

Bad female narrator

The story is good, female narrator is bad, she is weirdly changing her reading speed, from fast to slow and reading some dialogues like a robot!!!

Good, but slow…

This book was good. I had really high hopes based on the recommendations I have seen, but it unfortunately fell short for me. Here's why: two thirds of the book are the FMC and MMC traveling to a destination where there are a couple interesting hiccups along the way but just felt too long, it feels like the MMC was intended to be 'morally-grey' but didn't quite land, there is a case of a little too insta-love for me especially considering the books timeline is legit 12 days!, the last fourth of the book is where all of the story and intrigue lies, there is a spicy scene at the end but it wasn't as satisfying as I hoped for given the wait. I also listened to this on audio and the male narrator wasn't my fav, but the female narrator was fire!! Overall, it was good just not entirely for me but it could be for you so go for it!

slow start, but good story

It took a few chapters for the story to get going and for me to start investing in the characters. I would definitely recommend and intend on reading/listening to the second book as well.

The story

I loved the story, and world building. The slow burn 🔥. Can’t wait for the next book

Amazing Narration

It goes from a perfect day to saving the kingdom from ruin. I like the mythology stories about the gods.
