About this listen

Every harvest moon, the Witch Collector rides into our valley and leads one of us to the home of the immortal Frost King, to remain forever.

Today is that day—Collecting Day.

But he will not come for me. I, Raina Bloodgood, have lived in this village for twenty-four years, and for all that time he has passed me by.

His mistake.

Raina Bloodgood has one desire: kill the Frost King and the Witch Collector who stole her sister. On Collecting Day, she means to exact murderous revenge, but a more sinister threat sets fire to her world. Rising from the ashes is the Collector, Alexus Thibault, the man she vowed to slay and the only person who can help save her sister.

Thrust into an age-old story of ice, fire, and ancient gods, Raina must abandon vengeance and aid the Witch Collector or let their empire—and her sister—fall into enemy hands. But the lines between good and evil blur, and Raina has more to lose than she imagined. What is she to do when the Witch Collector is no longer the villain who stole her sister, but the hero who's stealing her heart?

I thought the storyline was interesting some of the actor monologue were a little over whelming but overall good story line and good work

Spoilers ahead. While listening, I kept checking how much of the book was left because I kept feeling like I was just waiting for the story to start. It was decently written and interesting, but I didn’t realize the story was them lost in the woods. I thought the story would be a greater internal conflict once she reached the king and her sister. I also think she fell to easily for mmc. It didn’t feel realistic that she’d spent so many years hating him and then a couple of conversations later she’s all in.

The main characters, Raina and Alexis, are magically endearing and I look forward to following their adventures into forever.

Loved this so much I immediately purchased the next 2 books in the series. Book 1 was the best by far, but the rest aren't bad. Good characterization and the story has just the right amount of suspense.

Loved this!

Just drug on.I almost didn't finish. got it on a BOGO sale. Will not listen to rest of series.

Boring

Just unnecessary soft porn detail that detracts from the rest of the story. Other than that, very entertaining.

Could do without the unnecessary over-the-top harlequin romance sex scene toward the end

I thoroughly enjoyed the pacing of this book, and how honest the witch collector was with his past and why everything is happening. I enjoyed this because I think that it's more realistic to be forthcoming and put it all out there than to withhold information that'll bite you in the but later even if it's a lie of omission. It gets tiring reading story's written that way, I often think "just get to the point! or why didn't they just tell them in the first place!?" especially when doing so honestly pales in comparison to the big overarching theme in the series.

Lastly the reason I actually enjoyed the pacing compared to other readers. Is that the story actually gives enough time and tumultuous experience between the love interest that it makes sense for their feelings to develop. Especially since Raina spent years despising the witch collector with her life's purpose being to kill hime and free her sister. Thus it made sense for their connection to grow slowly yet fiercely over time, while surviving/journeying along side eachother.

Plus this is a multi book series the plot can be slower in the first book as it establishes the world it takes place in.

Unique world building and pacing that sets it apart from other romantasy books.
