About this listen

Chaos. Conflict. Lawlessness. An uncertain future in a strange place. The American republic has crumbled. Joshua Winston, a reluctant leader who had hoped to enjoy a quiet, peaceful retirement from politics, is forced off of the sidelines. Now, he must lead a group of Americans determined to survive in the dangerous new world they face. He takes great pains to steer his group clear of the chaos that reigns after the republic, but fears that the conflict will inevitably find its way to them.

Great read. Waiting for volume 2 to be added to Audible. Hope Frank uses the same narrator. Troy was excellent!

Riveting read that is relatable

Williams novelises a scenario that could actually transpire today in our time. What five ten years ago might have been a distant “what if” flight of fancy has turned into a very near manifestation of real possibilities.
I like the characterisations in this book. The emotional state of each character is easily perceived by the reader as the author stirs you through very delicate human relationships during what seems like constant catastrophic and just dire life circumstances. What Williams has really written is a spectacular political thriller which speaks to the most primal instincts of human nature when forced to face a bleak future.
It will be interesting to see what he dose with the next few volumes.
Hopefully by that time it won’t actually be
