About this listen

When Rudolf Steiner gave these lectures 80 years ago, industrial farming was on the rise and organic methods were being replaced in the name of science, efficiency, and technology. With the widespread alarm over the quality of food in recent years, and the growth of the organic movement and its mainstream acceptance, perceptions are changing. The qualitative aspect of food is once again on the agenda, and in this context Rudolf Steiner's only course of lectures on agriculture is critical to the current debate.

With these talks, Steiner created and launched "biodynamic" farming - a specific form of agriculture which has come to be regarded as "premium organic". However, the agriculture Steiner speaks of in this book is much more than organic, and involves working with the cosmos, earth, and spiritual entities. To facilitate this, Steiner prescribes specific "preparations" for the soil, as well as other distinct methods born from his profound understanding of the material, as well as spiritual worlds. He presents a comprehensive picture of the complex dynamic relationships at work in nature and gives basic indications of the practical measures, which are necessary for bringing them into full play.

This audio edition, complete and unabridged, is read by respected actor and speech teacher Peter Bridgmont, author of Liberation of the Actor.

Perfect narrator

The narrator that they picked to do this audiobook is absolutely wonderful even though none of us have ever heard Rudolph Steiner‘s real voice it’s easy to imagine this gentleman as being him hopefully it doesn’t ruin me for any future audiobooks from Rudolph Steiner with different narrators. As a warning to anyone the layout is a bit confusing it starts off with all of the Q&A discussions from the book then goes into the actual lectures. When I first started listening I thought that’s all this was was the Q&A discussions but it is not they just for some reason put them at the very beginning all grouped together

Out of order

The book starts with a question and answer discussion section without the context of the material, then goes to the lectures, then goes back to discussions, ending with the title of one discussion section before cutting off without starting it. I can’t rate a book highly if it has been put together so poorly.
