This is an Irish novel set in Los Angeles and read by the author, the actor Chris Sullivan. It tells the story of Alfredo Hunter, a depressive Jewish/Irish playwright who is in Hollywood to make a killing in the film business. Great book for a rainy day.

The Storyteller written by Chris Sullivan takes the character on which James Joyce based Leopold Bloom from his epic novel Ulysses and extends his life in a new work of fiction.
The character, Afredo Hunter meets the unknown author who records his time and acquaintanceship in the company of this complex character.
They meet up in Hollywood where they have both fetched up in pursuit of their ambitions and are eking out a life.
Afredo Hunter and the storyteller are both from Dublin with their particular perspective on life. The author Chris Sullivan, also a Dubliner, showcases his background and talent in this compelling novel.
The novel gives a real feeling of living the low life in a high-life town. Chris Sullivan has captured the nuances of life behind The Strip.
The characters with all their quirks are convincing and achieve a life of their own. One is drawn irresistibly through the chapters to the story's resolution. The style is easily accessible, unlike Joyce.
Mr Sulivan's gentle brogue is a delight in the recording and adds authenticity to the piece, if in fact that were needed. This is a novel that could become a companion and a worthy addition to anyone's library.
