About this listen

The critically acclaimed author of Alien: The Cold Forge takes listeners to a rogue colony where terror lurks in the tunnels of an abandoned Weyland-Yutani complex.

“Shy” Hunt and the tech team from McAllen Integrations thought they’d have an easy job - set up environmental systems for the brand new Hasanova Data Solutions colony, built on the abandoned ruins of a complex known as “Charybdis”. There are just two problems: The colony belongs to the Iranian state, so diplomacy is strained at best, and the complex is located above a series of hidden caves that contain deadly secrets. When a bizarre ship lands on a nearby island, one of the workers is attacked by a taloned creature, and trust evaporates between the Iranians and Americans. The McAllen Integrations crew is imprisoned, accused as spies, but manages to send out a distress signal - to the Colonial Marines.

This should have been marked as a sequel. I read cold forge recently, and don't see how the main plot elements could fit properly without it. Even having read the prior book, the way it connected was confusing. The reading was fine. The story was ok.

Just OK. Should be called Cold Forge part 2.

This book should be made into the next alien movie. It ties into everything great and is an amazing, action packed story.

Should be the next Alien movie!

Alex White is by far the best author in the current Alien series. Highly recommend this book as well as The Cold Forge.

One of the best in the series.

Too many stops in random places. The pauses are irritating . I listen when I'm busy, so I have to stop and unpause

good story, too many pauses

Genuinely thrown off by many of the great twists, easily the worst southern accents ever.

Surprising, with surprisingly bad southern accents

The book was slow at the start but eventually became more entertaining. The narrator was a bit monotone for me but not terrible. And the first book was much better.

It was okay, and the first book was better.

Modern day, Geo, political dynamic between America and Iran inserted into this futuristic tail, which was a bit odd. American military portrayed, mostly as war. Criminals, Iranians portrayed, mostly as good. Author seems to have thoroughly researched Iranian culture for the story, which is good, but little over the top. Story is entertaining overall, if you don’t let that stuff bug, you too much performance is mostly good but a few character voices are a bit offputting. Interesting storyline, and fairly good action sequences.

Mostly entertaining with some PC

Alot of people complain about the narration. I think she did a good job. I've reread ( is that how you put it lol) this book a couple of time in 4 months and enjoyed it every time. A great follow up of the Cold Forge!

Another great Aliens book
