Publisher's summary

Ivo, Jaeger, Jadeth, and Emaranthe must locate a map before the enemy does. It may lead them to the one thing that can end the war, The Crown of Gods. When they are joined by a spy seeking redemption, and a mortal seeking his destiny, the quest becomes one of life and death, love and loss, deceit and hope. Will they find the map in time? Or will they discover enemies among allies?

Better narrator but Story Still Choppy

Narrator: better than the previous narrator; rich voice, decent differentiations

Language: Hell, S.O.B., bastard

Violence: it’s a war book, lots of blood is inevitable. Nothing explicitly gruesome.

Sexual content: there’s a relationship between characters but nothing explicit or sensual outside of kissing really

Parents: these characters loath their eternal state and fear death yet crave it... depending on the personality of your teen I’d suggest pre-reading this to assess if it’s appropriate for your kid.

Story: like the first in this series, the writing and story go quickly but things are disjointed and almost annoying to follow outside of the battles. If offered the third installment I’d read it but I would not characterize myself as chomping at the bit for it.

Allies & Enemies

This is a fast paced story that picks up where the first book left off. At times I felt it moved a little too fast for me, and I would re-listen to make sure I really understood what was going on.

Props to Cheryl S. Mackey for such a creative story.

Delio Pera did a nice job with the narration. I had no problems with adjusting to a different narrator.

The War Continues

The second book of the Immortals picked up where the first book ended. This second story ended in a major cliffhanger and I'm ready to continue onward with the series. Although there were a couple of battle scenes depicted, I felt that this story was more about the characters' and relationships' developments. I found the introductions of both the spy and the mortal and their back stories fascinating. I am enjoying this series and recommend it to those who love this genre. Delio Pera's narration is fine.
