Publisher's summary

Thirty stories from 30 authors, including Jane Yolen, Mike Resnick & J. J. Steinfeld.

How will the world end? With aliens or angels? Or a groundhog? Bleak despair? Martial fervor? Or a belly laugh?

Whatever the apocalypse, it will be borne by people and their families and their dogs and most of all, it will challenge their notions of themselves.

This anthology includes international award-winning writers, poets, and thinkers that give you their version of the apocalypse. Just remember, we're all in this together. But there is more: the first short fiction by the wildly popular blogger Jim Wright of Stonekettle Station; a new story by Mike Resnick; and poetry by Jane Yolen. This is an international piece of work with writers from all over the globe, seven countries: Nigeria, Greece, the UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia have all put their best foot forward. You will not be disappointed.

The full list of narrators includes Paul Boehmer, Gabrielle de Cuir, Justine Eyre, Arthur Morey, John Allen Nelson, Kate Orsini, John Rubinstein, Kristoffer Tabori, and Stefan Rudnicki.

Humor to the End

One does not think you can chuckle at the Apocalypse. And not all stories will achieve that, but over all the stories here are a well balanced thoughtful look at the concept of an Apocalypse. From Jim Wright's master piece, The Deserter to the final story by Peggy Ruppel that left me laughing out loud. This is a fine collection, well performed. My primary wish that it had been longer. I look forward to reading more of the Alternative's series of anthologies this is part of. A well done collection. The narration is professional and well done. It was an overall good decision. I don't often buy collections, but this one held together beautifully.

Highly Recommended

While not the kind of subject to fall asleep to (where I do most of my reading these days) this has to be one of the best collections of short stories about the end of the world that I've ever read. I look forward to reading the other two books in the series. I hope that they will eventually be available in audio format, too.

Fun to read.

I still talk about these stories. Alternative humor about doom and gloom that makes you think.

More, please.

I have read this a couple times, several stories three times. A couple are eligible for Hugo nominations, Resnick (RIP) and Wright, So I was thrilled when I heard there was an Audible. I was not disappointed. The narrator's are excellent.
