Judas is spreading!

Am I Dead? Written by Paul Seiple is the second in The Great Dying series. A fast-paced thriller about the start of an apocalypse that started in a small town. The experiment didn’t seem to go as planned in the small town or maybe it did? In this book the zombies seem to be getting smarter and that makes things more complicated when Judas already seems uncurable due to the constant adaptation to whatever is thrown at it. Let's see how Quincy Warren tackle the situation.

The pros of this book would include a few new characters to add a different perspective on how things are going. The zombies also seem to be advancing due to the Judas getting better at surviving. This book seems to be more focused on the people trying to survive oppose to being focused on symptoms the folks were getting before the hunger of human flesh comes about. This story doesn’t have as much action but still contains a fair amount to keep the reader satisfied.

Cons would start at the pace of the book, the first book seemed so fast pace with a lot going on this one didn’t keep the momentum it really slowed the story down. I really thought I was going to hear from Melanie after the first book ended with her in the epilogue. I was expecting the story to continue with her immediately but maybe they pick up with her story in the last book. I noticed they are getting telepathy from Judas I don’t really like that bit, so far, the story has been believable but zombies communicating with each other via the mind just doesn’t seem like something zombies would do.

I received this book via Promo and I really enjoyed it not as much as the first. I will be started the last book shortly. This isn’t a pro or a con but something I wanted to mention. In the first book when folks got sick it would usually take them around 2 days to die. When Judas became airborne and advanced rapidly, I expected it to spread extremely fast and folks should have died by the thousands. I don’t understand how it was swept under the rug as the flu for so long like it did in this book.

Liked this Book

This second book didn’t wow me like the first one but it was good.

I like the introduction of new characters and how the virus continues.

I am looking forward to the next book.

Interesting listen.

Writer writes the way people talk. That’s refreshing. Narrator not the best but ok. Story line good although smart zombies take adjusting too. How do you survive smart zombies. Will purchase the next, just to find out.
